Gentle Giant – Jumbo Secret Wars Iron Man

Posted on February 17, 2016 at 8:07 am by Joe Moore under Marvel Toy News

Gentle Giant has sent us some great high resolution photos of their upcoming Marvel Secret Wars – Iron Man Jumbo Figure. This is a 12″ version of the original 3.75″ figure released in the 80’s. You can Pre-Order the Figure now. Here’s additional info direct from Gentle Giant:

Secret Wars Jumbo Iron Man
Price – $90
License: Marvel
Item Number: 80447
UPC: 8-14176-02084-3
Dimensions: H 12” x W 6” x D 4“
Release Date: Q4 2016

Secret Wars was a 12 part series from Marvel Comics that introduced the character of The Beyonder to the Marvel Universe. The Beyonder, assembles a planet from chunks of other planets and dubs it “Battleworld”. He then kidnaps several heroes and villains from Earth, and transplants them on Battleworld to fight for The Beyonder’s amusement. Iron Man is transported along with the rest of the heroes to Battleworld to fight.

Digitally scanned from the original Secret Wars figures and reproduced in 12” scale, no detail has been overlooked. Roto and injection molded and made of durable plastics with original articulation.

To further capture the vintage feel, Gentle Giant has packaged this figure with a Secret Wars-inspired backer card featuring original photos and artwork. Designed with the collector in mind, the figure comes in a re-sealable plastic outer clam shell to help protect and display this limited edition figure.

Check out all of the photos by reading on.

The 4" retro figures are bad enough, but 12" ones for $90? No f'in way.

they were doing the Star Wars ones well before the 3.75" Funko releases. The Jumbo Star Wars oversized reissues has been their bread & butter for a while now.

I wish they would re-release the old Secret Wars figures. Hell, I'm sure some company out there could even make new figures. There was the whole lost wave that we never got. I would love that!
Anyway, back on topic. These are really cool. Sadly I can't afford them.

    Really! I'm surprised by that.

These frustrate the hell out of me.

I *really* want the Secret Wars jumbos, but can't bring myself to get them knowing that GG totally cheaped out by not including the shields.

The European market got an Iceman, Constrictor and Electro. They're pretty rare overall.
The actual lost wave was going to feature Mr. Fantastic, Hulk, Abomination, Mystique, Dazzler, Thunderball and Annihilus.
You can read about it here (I hope this is ok share).

They were made by Mattel, so that's a no-go. What these have going in their favor is that Mattel doesn't have the Marvel license and they're not exact reproductions of the originals.

As much as I love the original Secret Wars Iron Man figure, a lot of the charm is lost when you supersize it.

I've never owned any of these jumbo figures but they're intriguing. For those who have, do you keep them in the package? I wonder if anyone takes them out.

I've got a couple, I removed them and gave the backer cards away.
They're exactly what they look like, giant versions of the originals. For me there are a couple vintage figures that were always favorites (Yoda, Bossk, Jedi Luke) and it's fun to have giant versions of them.
