DC Collectibles Batman Animated – Batman (BTAS) & Batgirl (TNBA)

Posted on November 25, 2015 at 3:45 pm by Tony_Bacala under DC Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

The Toyark is running some more catch up on the DC Collectibles Batman Animated line today with galleries for Batman featuring his first look from The Animated Series and Batgirl featuring her New Batman Adventures gear. Both are iconic looks from the show, and both are heavily welcome by this fan. Batman works perfectly with Dick Grayson Robin and the Batmobile (see our gallery here for that). Batgirl rocks her giant smile a stark black and yellow look. Overall they are welcome additions to the roster. Head on in to check out over 30 shots of them in action courtesy of site sponsor Entertainment Earth!

Overall – fantastic figures. Sculpts are dead on, paint pops. Accessories and hand swaps are plenty. Would have liked and additional cape for Batman like his TNBA one had but that’s a minor nitpick. Batgirl’s smile runs large so don’t go setting her up in any precarious situations on your shelves, you’ll make her look Joker crazy! Pick these up, especially Batman, as soon as you can, worth it.

He's looks creepy as hell in this shot:

Nice lighting there to get the shadows like that.

I still wish they actually painted the shading on his face since in the cartoon he always had it. I might get this, depends on when I find it compared to other releases.

I'm happy that fans of this version will be getting what looks like a nice figure, but I will always prefer the Animated Series designs. I hope they eventually get around to an Animated Series version of Scarecrow with alternate heads to represent both of his masks from the show.

Full on,100% MEH! Waiting on BTAS version. Aside from Freeze and Croc, the TNBA villain designs are pretty crappy.

Beautiful figure and design. I love the BTAS design, but to me this one blows it out of the water. I see the list has Nightwing listed as available...did I miss something? I thought I was caught up.

I think it swings both ways. Some were pretty much exactly the same like Two-Face and Harley. I prefer TAS versions for Joker, Croc (he had a bad episode in TNBA), Mad Hatter, Riddler, and Catwoman. I prefer TNBA designs for Bane (better episode this time around and not as excessively luchadore), Poison Ivy, Scarecrow (I tend to prefer the actually creepier version), and Penguin. I will say that TAS didn't really have any bad designs as where TNBA did have some bad choices (Riddler).

Con: They didn't paint shadowing on his face.
I agree with what most people are saying. Never really cared for the New Adventures designs. For those that do like this version, probably realize his face never really looked like this. Aside from that, he's a cool figure. Black paint would go a long way with this sculpt.

Your vote makes it 3 to 2. I know a lot of people don't care for TNBA style as much because it is more streamlined to keep costs low and maintain consistency but this has the side-effect of appearing somewhat cheaper. Of course there are also like triple the number of episodes pre-rebranding so those looks are just more familiar.

Batgirl is another where I prefer TNBA look over TAS. Scarecrow might be the only character who actually had three different looks throughout the entire show(s). His original was probably the most typically comic accurate, his main one for TAS had a sneer but I don't like how the straw hair came out on it, and his TNBA was the creepy preacher. My favorite is the creepy preacher, I like the proportions being kinda monstrous and Jeffrey Combs' voice was good for that more monotonous, scientific voice. Second is the debut look as it's more in line with his usual comic attire, and last is his TAS main look. Henry Polic's voice was good too but it focused more on him being a coward himself and I always imagined Scarecrow feeling in charge while he was in costume, only cowering and revealing his true nature when he was actually defeated.

I think the two pack with Batman and the Phantasm are missing from your list....

These are really cool looking figures, but I am so annoyed that Harley Quinn keeps getting pushed back. It makes me think there were really bad issues with her and that is causing the delay. She's the one figure from my preorder that is holding back the delivery.

So I guess he just has no leg articulation cause of the coat, yeah? Bugs me that he gets useless, yet entirely full ankle movement, yet Joker didn't.

She hits this week so not much longer. Though hopefully the delays mean whatever issues there were are sorted out.

Same here! I saw it in theaters a few times too. I think the head sculpt from the two pack looks really great! I hope we get a jet pack Joker with an alternate head with a missing tooth packed with the "year one" Batman.

Yeah, skipped the 2 packs by mistake. Added in.

Also added the Joker / Harley 2 packs, of which there are 2. One with Joker in a tux, and one with Harley in a skirt.

I'm guessing they decided to release the 2 pack with Joker, and decided to hold Harley so they could run the mold for the 2 pack and singles at the same time. Maybe, just speculating.

I remember when they first showed the skirt Harley and shiny purple Joker version I was kinda miffed because they initially said it was replacing the tux Joker version entirely, but yeah I guess now they'll be doing both. I'm not sure if I really want either anymore but to me the tux version looked better.

Damn, didn't know about the Harley/Joker two pack...I'll definitely get the one with Harley in a skirt...not sure about the other.

I'm focusing on The Animated Series figs only - any idea of what the Phantasm/Batman has for accessories? I skipped picking up single packed Batman since I figured they'd share same accessories with 2 pack Bats...

Probably just some swap off hands for the Phantasm and then I'd imagine that Batman would just share accessories with the currently available individual figure. I'd like the locket to be an accessory too but I kinda doubt it since we didn't see it at any conventions and they haven't solicited the accessories yet, who knows.

    That's what I sorta figured...

I'm guessing Mad Hatter will be out in the next couple of weeks.

I think Poison Ivy could have had a way better face. Her expression is so blank/bored. It doesn't really take points off I think, it just could have earned more points with a better face. Riddler on the other hand has a great smirk but I don't like the character much.
