Batman v Superman MAFEX Update

Posted on November 23, 2015 at 12:16 pm by Joe Moore under DC Toy News

Also posted up were the product pages for Batman and Superman MAFEX Figures. These designs are based on the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film. These figures stand 160MM tall, which is about 6.3″. These will be available starting in July 2016 at a price of 5,500 yen each (about $47 USD), not 5,940 as previously stated.

Batman includes a cloth cape. Also included are interchangeable hands, and assortment of weapons and an articulated figure stand. Superman includes a cloth cape as well. He will also include swappable hands and an articulated figure stand. You can see the new photos by reading on.

Digging both of these. Never got a MAFEX figure before. Perhaps these will be my first. Hope Superman comes with some closed fist hands though.

I wouldn't doubt it if he did, MAFEX is really good about giving you a wide variety of optional hands. I'm really hoping they'll do a Wonder Woman figure and an Armored Batman too. I can't express how much I like that Batman figure, he looks super imposing. I think MAFEX has been killing it with their movie licensed stuff. I'm just glad we're finally seeing some Batman V Superman figures in this scale that are genuinely geared toward collectors. Also here's hoping they do a freaking Batmobile!

Damn I love that Batsuit. It's refreshing after the overly complicated armor from The Dark Knight/Rises. The Begins suit was cool but I don't understand why it couldn't have been gray like the comics.

How big are these and are they expensive? I may need to get both.

MAFEX figures tend to run in a six inch scale, but are slightly smaller than Legends. I feel personally that they are a little closer to the DC Movie Masters line in terms of scale. As for cost, usually they are more than $50, but less than $70 depending on the character, popularity, age of figure etc. Where you buy from also plays a role, as these are imported figures and you may have to pay high shipping costs or tax duties.

A lot of the time though, you can score great deals on them if you are diligent and shop around. I know several people who were able to pick up the MAFEX Joker and Batman from TDK for a little over 30 bucks shipped.

Hallelujah, we have been saved! (from Mattel's crappy figures for this line) Here's hoping that they make an armored Batsuit version...

Thanks for the info. I'll have to keep an eye out when they're released. I'd love to get one or both for my birthday next year if they're out by then.

I can't help but wonder if we'll see Figuarts do Batman V Superman figures too? I feel like if they were, we should have seen something by now. I also hope Figuarts, and MAFEX do Suicide Squad figures too. I can't tell you how bad I want that whole team on my shelf, Croc especially!

It'll be interesting to see if these MAFEX figures stand the test of time or grow brittle and fall apart like so many Medicom products of the past.

These are both up on Amiami now, just over $40 at today's exchange rate.

I like these, and I like Mafex's headsculpts, but I really don't like whatever they do to paint the head. It looks so soft, I can't put my finger on it, like it's fuzzy or something.

These look great, but I never picked up a Mafex figure before. Kept hearing that they fall apart easily (at least that's what I heard from their first attempt at Bale Batman). Can anyone tell me if Medicom improved this problem with their later figures? Thanks

kinda of , it seems to be one thing or the other
1.0 the shoulder joints fallout easily
2.0 is the biceps , hands joints weren't strong enough the ball joint i think break in half.

1.0 is i think the better one, if you don't mind minus 2 heads and a pose-able cape.
Your better off waiting for a review of this batman , but it seems to be expected that something might have an issue

I had heard that about the Batman figure, but I have the Darth Vader and Stormtrooper and have zero issues with limbs popping off.

I also give them a +1 for giving every figure a stand, and not having to buy them separately.

I can't help but wonder if that's why the Star Wars figures were delayed for such a long time. Maybe MAFEX were fixing the quality issues people had, had with their figures before. It would at least seem that way, because from what I've been hearing the Star Wars stuff is really nice. I'm considering getting Vader to try this line out. Been looking for a Star Wars line to start collecting, and the Figuarts stuff is too hard to get a hold of. This MAFEX stuff looks like a great alternative, and to be honest I like the sculpts more. They look less stylized, and more true to the source material than Figuarts.

    IMO, Mafex over Figuarts.
