First Look at Mondo Masters of the Universe 1/6 Scale Figures

Posted on October 3, 2015 at 8:55 pm by Joe Moore under Masters Of The Universe Toy News

Back in July, Mondo teased the reveal of a new line of Masters of the Universe 1/6 Scale Figures. Thanks to He-Man.org, we have our very first look at the prototypes. The figures were on display at Mondo-Con 2015. The first two figures are He-Man and Skeletor. These unpainted prototypes are still in-progress and the final products will likely vary a bit.

I don't like He-Man's head sculpt at all, but otherwise, those look pretty good.

Apparently, they're also going to be doing 1/6 Batman: The Animated Series figures (announced at Mondocon).

He-Man has Arnold Schwarzenegger's face... The body looks fine but the face is horrid. Same with Skeletor. The skull is too big. sculptor fails to realize that Skeletor's head has no flesh or muscle on it, so therefore should be slightly smaller, not larger, than He-Man's head!

Oh well. Really wish they'd make action figures based on the Sideshow statue (I think it was Sideshow. too lazy to search).

What other MOTU media has ever portrayed Skeletor's skull head as sized realistically to his body?

He didn't get acid thrown over his entire body, just his head (depending on origin you follow).

Thinking about how that was his origin in some media, I completely revised my post immediately after I posted it.

That's the point. These AREN'T like any other MOTU pieces. They are going for a "realistic" look, judging by the blatant rip-off of Ahhh-nuld's face instead of the cartoon or original figure's face... if realism is what they are aiming for, Skeletor is way off.

They're definitely going for a bit more of a "realistic" look, but they aren't going quite as far as you say they are. If they were really going for ultimate realism, (one of) Skeletor's face(s) would look exactly like a real skull. Neither do; they both still look relatively cartoony.
