The second figure from NECA’s Terminator: Genisys wave 1 is the Guardian T-800. In the film, when Kyle Reese and the original T-800 travel back to 1984, the each come face-to-face with an older looking T-800. The Guardian T-800, aka Pops, destroys the Terminator sent back to kill Sarah Connor, whom he is programmed to protect.
The 7″ scale Guardian T-800 features the likeness of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger in a new sculpt. The figure includes a Remington Shotgun as seen in the film. We have a full gallery and review of the figure, which comes to us via Toyark sponsor Big Bad Toy Store. Read on to check it out.

Pros
- Great sculpt
- Good likeness to the Arnold
- Plenty of articulation
Cons
- Light on accessories compared to the T-1000
Overall
I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the first wave of Terminator: Genisys figures. I though the T-1000 was a superb figure (even though the character wasn’t). With the Guardian T-800 we get a nice looking new Arnold figure. Like the T-1000, this comes in a collector friendly window box. The only included accessory is the shotgun. Some alternate hands or a battle damaged arm would have been welcome here and put it inline with the “Ultimate” feel of the previous T-1000.
The sculpt for the figure is really nice. The clothing has a very natural feel to it, and it’s nice to get a T-800 with something other than the standard outfits we always see. The head sculpt is pretty good as well. The final piece may not be as spot on as, say, the T2 T-800 that was just released. but there’s no mistaking who this is and it matches up well to how he looked in the film. Paint apps are clean and no issues stood out. The figure has plenty of articulation and can accomplish just about any pose I wanted. He can hold the shotgun properly and aim it high or low while still keeping both hands on the weapon. It basically has all the articulation you’d expect from a modern NECA figure, so you’ll have plenty of choices on how to pose him.
The Guardian T-800 is definitely a solid release. The T-1000 is, in my opinion, a better overall figure as it includes more accessories. But this will easily be a better seller and will go nicely with other Schwarzenegger Terminator figures, and especially well with the upcoming 2017 version of the Guardian T-800.

I wish this guy had been in the movie more, kind of a waste to barely have him in there. I liked Genisys easily more than 3 or 4 but it still disappointed overall. I wonder if any of this T-1000 will be incorporated into the ultimate T2 T-1000 figure.

NECA does some awesome toys!
Both look great, shots are great. Love the intro Arnie image.
Thanks. The Arnold head sculpt catches light really well. Wish I hadn't blown out my color bulb so I could get some more fun lighting shots.
man, that josh brolin figure looks dead on. I wonder why he always looks so mad?
also, alexandre manning is probably stoked he's got his own action figure too!
Either way, these new figures are sick looking. The only thing keeping me from getting them is that I just refuse to support anything Terminator not relating to the first two films. Hollywood has really killed this series.
Just curious if anyone has tried it, and I've looked around trying to see if it can be done, but has anyone tried replacing the Byung Hyun head with the Robert Patrick head from the previous releases? Would it fit, or does there need to be some heavy modding done. If so, I'll be ordering that T1000 ASAP...
Yeah, their old Terminator figures had no leg articulation.
