Overall
NECA originally showed this Mohawk at Toy Fair 2015. At the time, they were actually still awaiting approval to include the machine gun. About a month later they announced they received approval and fans would be getting the complete figure. Even better, this is pavign the way for a movie accurate color version of Mohawk with his gun as seen at SDCC 2015.
Mohawk comes packaged in a flapped window box, which is based on the original NES game packaging. It includes a game scene backdrop as well. The figure sits in a plastic tray to allow for easy removal and for placing back in to store or display. The figure is painted to resemble his in game appearance. There is a lot of yellow and blue-tinted gray. The in-game sprite was fairly large, which allowed them to match the paint apps quite well. The figure has plenty of great articulation. The neck has two articulated points, at the base of the figure and at the head, allowing for a wide range of motion. The arms and legs also have plenty of swivel spots and ball joints to get nearly any pose you want. There’s enough articulation in the arms so that the included machine gun can be held with one or both hands. A nice added touch is the fact that the mouth can be displayed opened or closed.
The figure is compatible with the NECA figure stands that are out now. You will likely need to use it. The feet are cast in a soft vinyl, likely for durability and to prevent breakage of the toes. This can make it difficult to stand up due to the top heavy design of the Gremlins themselves. Other than that, the figure is a pretty outstanding addition to the line. It’s nice to see a figure in the line that isn’t so “blue”, and the mold itself is superb, which will make for a nice addition to your Gremlins line or the Classic Game Collection.
