Full Details and New Images For NECA Alien Eggs Carton

Posted on June 19, 2015 at 8:14 am by Joe Moore under Aliens and Predator Toy News

We’ve seen a few images and teasers for the NECA Alien Eggs Carton over the months. NECA has shared images and new info on this fun, tongue-in-cheek release. These are scheduled for a September release. Here are the details direct from NECA:

“New from Weyland-Yutani, these eggs are sourced directly from LV-426, where Xenomorphs are allowed to roam freely without being confined to cramped cages. Buy cage-free and support our efforts to study and protect this gentle, misunderstood species. Warning: see packaging for safe handling instructions. Weyland-Yutani is not responsible for any spaceship infestation or planetary destruction that may occur.”

From the terrifying Alien movie series, this set includes 6 Xenomorph eggs and 3 facehuggers with bendable tails. They make great diorama pieces, since they’re perfectly in scale with our line of 7″ figures – and for collectors, the full-color egg carton is designed to be eminently display-worthy.

The new images also give us a great look at the upcoming Aliens Ellen Ripley 7″ Figure. Read on to check out the images.

About time. I know everyone wants Ripley but I hope we get some more of the marines and Burke. It can not be hard to get Paul Reiser's likeness rights. And I want Drake, Apone, and Vasquez. But that may be like wishing for more Humans in the Predator line.

They've said a few times the actor for Apone doesn't allow his likeness to be used. Same with actress for Vasquez.

They've said they have no desire to do a Burke figure as recently as November.

Well, they can still make Apone and Vasquez, just make their faces looking nothing like the actor/actress. Evidently that's what they did with the Alien Ripley figures, because those 2 Ripleys look nothing like Sigourney Weaver.

Products can change from solicit to release (it's not all that uncommon for NECA figures it just happened with Viper Predator in series 12 and a massive upgrade occurred with Godzilla '85 getting a way better head) so it's entirely possible that the final figures will look more like Sigourney Weaver. They made Bishop look like Lance Henriksen and they made Dallas look like Tom Skerritt, so I think that by final release they'll be polished up. Regardless of how bad/good it looks now the toys still have a passing likeness of Sigourney Weaver which means that they'd still try and get the other people's likeness rights to be as close as possible.

These eggs are in-scale so my guess is this will be an Alien Egg Chamber Ripley as seen from the movie

OMG Another Ripley Figure in the Works--- Can't express the excitement of the Upcoming figures Neca is shelling out--- we have a Bishop- likeness none other then Lance Henrikson, Dallas in Spacesuit- likeness to Tom Skerritt and 2 Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley figures coming out including a 3rd.

It's funny, now that after all these years--- some celebrities are coming forward in the Video games and Action Figures genre--- for Years, Sigourney Weaver have never wanted her likeness on any toy--- especially from Aliens, she did get approval for her likeness for a Ripley in the Power Loader model kit Years ago--- but John Hurt never had a figure made with his likeness in all. ever wonder why there wasn't a John Hurt figure from Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull??? just recently Funko and Super7 made a Chestburster and Facehugger figure--- but NO likeness what so ever. Sigourney Weaver, Yaphet Kotto, Ian Holm, Veronica Cartright, Harry Dean Stanton and Tom Skerritt all reprised their roles in Alien Isolation " Crew Expendable" DLC--- I hoping in the near Future we see Neca's Alien Figures--- just like Sigourney Weaver did with her Ripley Figure coming out very soon

So they don't have to be exact.

Sweet! I'm down for Ripley if the likeness is better than the figures from the first movie. I bet she's just one of those people whose likeness is hard to capture. Mattel's Gatekeeper Dana figure didn't look anything like her either.

I've noticed that a lot the Walking Dead figures don't always capture the actors' likeness, even though they get to do 3-D scans of the actors' faces.

They released a John Hurt likeness as the War Doctor a year ago, so clearly he's up for that nowadays

But it is possible that part of his contract for that show included using his likeness for products and what not (like what Star Wars did with all of its actors and actresses) whereas there was no such agreement made for a film like Alien so you don't get all of the likenesses with the contract which means there has to be added negotiations for said likenesses later in time (as is the case now).

I don't know whether it's true but there is a rumour in Who circles that Hurt will allow bearded figures but not clean shaven ones. Weird, if true.

Yeah, but she isn't available from Amazon for preorder, just third party scalpers. BBTS overcharges on shipping. I don't mind ordering an entire case of something, but an individual figure is way too expensive.

How is $5 or $6 way too expensive? I mean it's technically all up to the individual to deem such a thing but since there's no tax it's a fair price. BBTS also always does well, in my experience, with properly packaging/inspecting items. Sometimes TRU or Gamestop will have the better deal but they can be careless and stuff shows up banged to hell. I do love Amazon prime though.

This concludes my advertising for places to buy toys my local TRU refuses to stock.

I usually use the Pile of Loot from BBTS , so I wont ship anything until I have a few items in the pile. Sometimes I have let stuff set in my POL for a month or 2.

I've never understood the likeness thing, you get free money for someone to make a plastic head of yours.

Now, if you thought they were going to use it for questionable purposes I could understand, but this is a movie that these people signed on for and did.

  24. Joe Moore's Avatar Joe Moore says

    05-06-2015, 04:59 AM

With a movie like Alien, there wasn't really a need to include likeness rights for merchandising. That concept was only just being explored at the time (thanks to Star Wars). The thought of making toys was explored and ultimately shelved (with those designs becoming the first ReAction figures). It's only in hindsight now that those types of contracts would have been useful for these properties.

Now, to make new collectibles based on an actor likeness from an old property, toy companies need to seek them out and negotiate with each of them individually. A lot of movies and TV shows now have that legwork done by the studios.

Oh, I don't mind BBTS. I love the amount of care they put into shipping products out, but I don't want to pay more than $22 for Ripley. As such, I would rather get her from Amazon with Prime. Thinking about it though, I'll just wait to see her in stores first since I will want to check out the paint jobs since I have yet to see a Bishop that had a good one.

Plus, to be honest, I'm starting to think my reason for buying the Alien line last summer was more of an impulse "I love these movies so much" type of thing more than my actually wanting to collect them. As such, I want to make sure this is a line I really do want to collect and seeing Ripley in stores before I buy her might help me determine that.

I don't have that kind of patience. I already had to wait for the figures to come out for several months, but not having it in my hand the moment it comes out is even more frustrating. That is one of the reasons I would rather be able to buy everything I want in person at a store rather than online. I want instant gratification. I don't like buying something I can not touch as I pay for it.
