Friday The 13th Mego Style Jason and Pamela Voorhees 2-Pack

Posted on June 12, 2015 at 12:34 pm by Joe Moore under Horror Toy News

NECA and Ari Lehman (the first person to portray Jason Voorhees) have teamed up to reveal the Friday the 13th Mego Style 8″ Jason and Pamela Voorhees 2-Pack. The set has been teased many, many times and it’s great to see it fully unveiled. It includes Pamela Voorhees and a young Jason Voorhees as seen in the original Friday the 13th film. This will be a Convention Exclusive. For those not attending the cons this summer, NECA will be bringing fans a chance to own it. Details on that when we have them.

You can check out the images, and a fantastic message from Mr. Lehman, by reading on.

NECA “FRIDAY the 13TH” Action Figure Package: PAMELA VOORHEES

On Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2015, I received a heart-breaking text that our dear friend Betsy Palmer had passed away on Friday, May 29. The outpour of messages, texts, calls, and reports online that followed confirmed what I did not want to yet acknowledge. I recalled my first horror convention appearance at the 2004 Fangoria/Chiller Theatre Weekend of Horror at The Meadowlands. It was a huge event and I remember meeting Betsy Palmer, who played Pamela Voorhees, my mother in “Friday the 13th”. She immediately welcomed me and I discovered a new and lasting friend in her. She sensed in me a shared humor and enthusiasm for all forms of art, particularly music, theater (Tennessee Williams), and cinema. Since then, I enjoyed many occasions when we would meet, primarily at conventions, and spend time together, discussing concepts and exchanging ideas. She took interest in my music and acting, and became one of the earliest champions of my work and participation in the horror circuit. Betsy honored us all with a lifetime of superb work and dedication. In person she made everyone feel special and important, and she is my personal inspiration. No one could work a crowd like her. When she knew I was going to perform onstage she would always say, “Knock ’em dead, Ari, and leave ’em writhing in the aisles!” And she meant every word of it. I love her madly forever.

NECA’s “Friday the 13th” package is such a fitting tribute to this Great American Actor, whose powerful characters exuded a confidence that illuminated the screen and electrified the audience. Betsy Palmer will always be remembered for her brilliant portrayal of “Friday the 13th”‘s original protagonist, Mrs. Pamela Voorhees and the young Jason Voorhees in the iconic final scene have created such a lasting impression on movie-goers, that they are more like a form of American mythological characters nowadays.

NECA has memorialized these horror classic film figures with its superb craftsmanship and attention- to-detail – from its retro Mego-style treatment to the real fabric clothing- and brings together Pamela Voorhees as played by Betsy Palmer and the unmasked, young Jason once again, in celebration of the film’s 35th anniversary.

It is with great honor and pleasure that I played the first Jason Voorhees – and now reveal to you NECA’s “Friday the 13th” action figure package on the eve of Jason’s birthday.

Thank you, NECA, for delighting the dedicated fans of “Friday the 13th” everywhere. Betsy would be pleased.

I despise the fact that they made this a convention exclusive. It's actually surprising since they went ahead and tooled an entirely new little Jason body. You'd think they'd want to release it retail to try to recoup some more of their costs.

I hope when they finally reveal the way they're going to try to get this to other fans that it's something reasonable.

I'm really hating the whole "convention exclusive" tag period. Which convention? All conventions? Would it hurt not to be so vague?

I hope it's not a hard one to attain, because this is a must own for me.

The photos on this are really sweet and touching as silly as that sounds. I love the image of Jason cowering behind his mother for protection. It's a pretty powerful shot.

An excellent and very tender eulogy by Ari as well. Rest in peace Betsy Palmer.

It's likely the summer/fall con circuit and any shows they may attend. SDCC, NYCC, etc.

I hope that is the case. I'd hate to pass on something at the moment, only to find out that a "convention exclusive" was actually only available for SDCC, but not NYCC, NY ToyFair, ect...causing me to miss out.

NECA is being terribly vague as of late with exclusives. I only just now found out the AVP Kenner 2 pack was a TRU exclusive.

I don't think it's silly...actually, I thought the same exact thing when I was looking at the pictures. It's really sweet.

Great piece! Can't wait to own this one.
It'll be available online the days of SDCC. Check NECA Facebook and Twitter for a link each day. Good luck!

With the exception of the CVG Jason Voorhees a few years back, I haven't had too many issues picking up stuff from NECA'S website. Hopefully the announce them in a timely manner. This set, along with Ambush Predator are tops on my list this year.

So NECA is saying they going to be making this available in a variety of ways. Full details next week. But Randy says they will have it online during SDCC show and select retail locations (perhaps Toys R Us).

Does everybody have that feeling when you get these figures you'll want to take pictures of Jason meeting his future self or holding the hockey mask or having the zombified Jason hugging Pamela? Or is it just me.

Exactly what I plan on doing.

Probably not needed for a frontpage update. But Ari Leham received his pack from NECA. Pretty cool to send the first ever Jason a set.
