Back in April we shared a magazine scan that teased both Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Now Hot Toys has fully revealed their A New Hope Luke Skywalker 1/6 Scale Figure. The figure will include a bunch of movie themed accessories. Included are a tunic, a hat, interchangeable hair for wearing the hat, four sets of hands, goggles, binoculars, a Lightsaber, a training droid, a droid caller and more.
Certain markets will also have access to an exclusive version of Luke Skywalker. That version will include a Stormtrooper belt, grappling hook, communicator and a blaster rifle. The figure is scheduled for release in the first or second quarter of 2016. You can check out the images and much more info by reading on.
Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope – Luke Skywalker 1/6 Scale Figure
“I’m Luke Skywalker. I’m here to rescue you.” – Luke Skywalker
Originally just a moisture farmer on the planet Tatooine, the young Luke Skywalker’s life began to change forever when he purchased two droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO, and met the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, the infamous smugglers Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Princess Leia! Luke’s actions helped change the fate of the galaxy by assisting the Rebel Alliance against the Galactic Empire and destroying the terrifying Death Star.
Today, Hot Toys is very excited to officially reveal the collectible figure of the central character in the original Star Wars trilogy – the 1/6th scale Luke Skywalker Collectible Figure from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope!
The movie-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in the film featuring a newly developed head sculpt, specially tailored costume, LED-lighted lightsaber, a hat with goggles, a poncho, detailed accessories, and a figure stand. Hot Toys Teases Star Wars: A New Hope Luke and Leia Figures

Cool but still waiting for ESB figures before I start going down the dark path of HT SW.
Thinking I'll pass on these. I'd rather have Luke in pilot gear, and maybe someday someone will make Leia with the Bespin clothes.
i dunno, after seeing Solo, I am worried how these 2 will turn out. Kenobi looks good, but if you compare teh sculpt to actual images of Guinness from the movie - it's also pretty far off.
Hot Toys A New Hope Luke Skywalker - The Toyark - News

Welp, I definitely don't have to get the exclusive.
looks like he's about to do some fishing/ karate
I wonder why some toy designers insist in changing Hamill's hair from dirty blonde to brown. My preference would be authentic sun-bleached dirty blonde.
A cadaverous facial expression seems to be the norm lately for this sort of figure. I would much prefer a lifelike expression, maybe even a smile, but suppose the theory behind the blank look is that the viewer can imagine whatever expression s/he likes.
This seems like a good likeness overall, especially with the chin turned down and seen from a distance. The props look tremendous.
It looks good, but I really really hope they fix that hair before manufacture, it's waaaaay too dark and doesn't match ANH Luke at all.
I have question for those that know, and please direct me if there is a thread for this:
Sideshow are making C3PO at the end of this year to go with the R2 they made this year. From what I can see they made 3PO a couple of years ago and this new one seems to have the same features, but doesn't look metallic, so my questions are:
1) Is the new 3PO the same as the one from a couple of years ago or not?
2) Are Hot Toys making the droids, even though Sideshow are a sister company and almost the same quality (I know they aren't as good, but close).
Managed to answer my own questions after some digging:
1) No, It's not. The original was made with Tamashii and was metal and shiny gold This is a different (plastic) sculpt with weathered gold.
2) Nobody knows since they can only go by what has been announced. They might or might not do the droids, but they certainly won't be doing them for a while as the New Hope Humans are still being done at the moment and their production will run well into next year.
