Avengers: Age of Ultron Artist Mix Collection Series 2

The second series of Avengers: Age of Ultron Artist Mix Collection has been revealed. This is a collaboration between Hot Toys and Japanese toy and character designer TOUMA. Series 1 was revealed back in February. The newest wave consists of  the following:

  • Iron Man Mark XLV
  • Thor
  • Vision
  • Iron Legion
  • Hulk
  • Rampaging Hulk – Available with Box Set only

Avengers: AOU Artist Mix Figures Designed by TOUMA (Series 2)

The highly stylized Hot Toys Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron Artist Mix Figures Designed by TOUMA (Series 1) has been popular upon its release especially in Hong Kong where they are sought after by fans of different ages!

Today, Hot Toys is pleased to continue the collaboration with Japanese artist TOUMA* and present the new Avengers: Age of Ultron Artist Mix Figures Designed by TOUMA (Series 2) to bring more characters from the movie re-imagined in the special art form!

This second series will include Iron Man Mark XLV, which is the first Hot Toys collectible figure based on this new armor from the movie, Thor, Vision, Iron Legion, and The Incredible Hulk!

A special Deluxe Set of 5 is also available which will feature the first four aforementioned characters plus a special Rampaging Hulk that is only available in this set.

Each Artist Mix Figure has a bobble-head and stands approximately 13cm tall (Hulk/Rampaging Hulk stand approximately 14.5cm tall) and perfectly combines the movie characters’ designs with TOUMA’s distinctive art style!

These Artist Mix Figures are great artistic complements to your shelves, desk, or dashboard!

Touma is a Japanese toys character designer. He started his career at a video game company 10 years ago. In 2001, he established his own workshop and started to become a figurine artist. He had his solo exhibitions and autograph sessions not only in Japan, but also in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and America. He collaborated with many major brands such as MONSTER HUNTER, STAR WARS, TRANSFORMERS, AVP, GODZILLA, POWER RANGERS, and more.

Recently, Touma and his 3D animation partner Shiroma collaborated with Hot Toys for the first time to ignite the Artist Mix Collection series to further expand the diversity of mini figures collection. The series is based on the 2015 Marvel Studios blockbuster, Avengers: Age of Ultron, which perfectly blends the iconic characters with Touma’s unique design style.

    I am not sure if Hot Toys is the right company to do stuff like that. I expect these to be small, but somewhat expensive since they will be propably high quality. Somewhat like heir Little Groot figure and I am not sure if that thing is selling too well. Just to damn expensive!

    The promotional image reminds me of the landing scene at the conclusion of Close Encounters, the figures resembling a handful of Greys dressed in Avengers costumes.

    (I'm a little surprised that Greys from that movie never appeared as action figures on their own behalf.)

    Why? It's not like they're not making other characters because of that.

    These are certainly cool, I always like when compaines re-imagine versions of characters. The part I don't understand is that Hot Toys are behind these? Hot Toys make some of the most detailed action figures available and the figures have a price tag that reflect that level of detail. Much the reason why I don't own any of them. So now they are releasing figures to complete directly against Pop Funko? They are the least detailed and some of the cheapest ways to represent your fandoms.

    So I guess I'm just wondering why one of the most expensive toy companies would want to release something that competes with one of the cheapest toys on the market?

    Funko is a North American company, and their products aren't huge at Japanese retailers. Hot Toys is based in Japan, so the market crossover is relatively small outside of the few online retailers that would carry both. and while these are certainly stylized, they are far more detailed than a Pop! Vinyl Figure.

    Also, this looks to be the first in a series of collaborations with artists/designers for the Artist Mix Collection. So I expect to see some wildly different designs with each new collaborator.

    As for the reason to do this, it's simple, they are expanding their brand beyond one type of collectible. They're opening themselves up to a different market, and that's going to bring in money and customers that would otherwise not buy your product.

    Also, this is not the first time Hot Toys has done stylized simpler figures. They've been doing things like this for a long time.

    What interests me is the hope that this indicates we get 3 different 1/6 scale Ultrons when released. Not a fan of the Prime version, but love the 2 drones.

    Those figures look incredible, if I see them in the wild I may fall into temptation. However the thing that really catches my eye is Cap's shield--is it magnetic? It doesn't appear to attach with straps and I think a peg hole would really detract from the figure's appearance. If that is the case I will definitely get him at least (magnetic shields are a great concept that should be used more often--hear me, Hasbro?!).

    And name the other movies that had a hall of armor in it consisting of +40 armors (mostly conceptualized) that pretty much accentuate every aspect of a display with the main character just by having said armory in the background that fans are begging Hot Toys to make? I'll give you that the House Party Protocol in the movie cheated by really only focusing on a select few armors in the movie, but just knowing there were that many in his armory and that the concept art exists seems to be enough for collectors.

If your complaint is that you're simply sick of seeing repaints of an armor or variations of another existing armor, and you actually collect this line, then it's understandable. Otherwise, I just don't get your complaint for anything other than to whine about something you don't like and don't even collect.

    money wise....Ironman is the biggest character ever in cinematic history. (even beating out Harry Potter, James Bond and Indiana Jones) makes $ence (not cents) to have him as your main character to profit from. ( IM $585 mil, IM2 $624 mil, IM3 $1.2 bil, Avengers $1.5 bil) I would guess we will have MANY more to come.... there are almost 50 different versions (what other character can boast that??!!??)
    And kudos for making more affordable collectables. Even if any market is flooded, there is ALWAYS room for two more...the cheapest and the best.

    Hulk looks like Wreck it Ralph and this "artist" mix, looks like a bland anime interpretation of Avengers. Its kinda like a drop in the bucket of Avengers collectibles, if someone told me Hasbro made these 4 years ago I wouldn't have known the difference. I will credit them looking sharp and having very pronounced details.

    What would really blow my mind and wreck my wallet is a company making GOOD 3 3/4 figures now that Hasbro doesn't.

    My point is he's turning into Hot Toy's version of Bumblebee. I'd love to have another shot at some figures I missed out on that have become stupid rare. Like War Machine, or Blade, but no... it's another god d*** Iron Man. But hey, that's just me "whining."

    BTW, to whoever actually gets a complete Hot Toys Hall of Armor setup going, can you float me a loan ntil later?
