Updated Look at Aliens Amanda Ripley Head Sculpt

Posted on April 24, 2015 at 11:31 am by Joe Moore under Aliens and Predator Toy News, Video Game Toy News

We have a new preview of the in-progress sculpt for NECA‘s upcoming Alien: Isolation Amanda Ripley 7″ Scale Figure. Look for this figure when the Alien: Isolation themed wave hits from NECA. We don’t have an official timeline just yet, but we’ll update when more images and info surface. That wave will also include a retooled Big Chap Alien based on the look of the Xeno‘s in the game.

Already having the newest Big Chap makes this one less desirable, but for those who don't have a Big Chap this looks neat since Big Chap isn't totally easy to come by. The Isolation figure might be a bit taller in the end because of its triple jointed leg design.

And Randy said "I'll think about it" in response to the possibility of making an Amanda Ripley figure from Alien: Isolation as well.

Looks like there will be two heads: one with smooth carapace, one with ridges like in Aliens. Cool.

EWWWW Colonial Marines sucked almost as much as Alien: Resurrection, scratch that Colonial Marines was worse thankfully Neil Blomkamp's new movie will erase the embarrassments of the series from canon. I think that might just be what's under the dome like how Big Chap has the skeletal face with the ridges.

Sweet. This thing will be bought, assuming they make Amanda as well. I'd really like one of the androids too, those were some creepy mofos. I'll be paying attention to see if those last two are announced.

Isolation recently got me into the series in a big way. It convinced me to by the 4 movie DVD set, and man, I wish I'd have given them a shot sooner - I had only seen the first two as a kid and didn't remember much at all.

I don't see why 3 & 4 get so much flak - or rather, I don't see them as the atrocities that other people do. 3 may even be my favorite despite its subpar sfx, but then, I always love it when someone is bold enough to kill off major characters in a live-action franchise - plus I dug the setting and religious tones. 4 is a super-cheesy action-packed Frankenstein movie with a futuristic setting. It's definitely the worst of the four, but shouldn't be ignored. If Blomkamp is looking to write off 3 & 4, he's just being terribly lazy and taking the easy way out. Although if it's done in a way that can be taken as just an alternate reality, I suppose I could dig it. Please, no fever dream/Dallas-style BS.

The biggest issue with 3 is that it completely spits all over the ending to Aliens to the point that it insults both the audience and characters. Not just that, but none of the characters are even remotely likable. Oh, and it is quite boring.

Alien Resurrection is just a poorly made movie and would be completely unwatchable if it weren't for Ron Perlman. The acting is absolutely atrocious and the CGI is just bad. Cameron made everything look better and he did everything with practical effects.

Now I do agree that if Blommkrap just writes them out, he is taking an easy way out. I would rather they just be nightmares Ripley experienced while she, Newt, and Hicks were in hyper sleep. But then, knowing him, the movie will move at the pace of a snail, he will make it turn out that the Xenomoprhs are some misunderstood race who are being oppressed by men.

I think I have to agree with Dr Kain that the lack of likable characters is what really hurt Alien 3, and the fact it slapped Aliens in the face. The dog alien was a cool creature though and the way they changed the 20th century fox opening was neat.
Resurrection was almost complete trash, only worth watching once for a laugh and getting to say "Joss Whedon was involved in this?!?!"

I agree that the franchise has been a letdown generally. Suspect a few of us could do a real bang-up screenplay and take the story in better directions, given the opportunity.

I'll agree with your assessment of Resurrection, but along with Ron Perlman, I also quite liked the wheelchair-bound character as well as the female android. I would probably buy action figures of all three of them, along with the mad scientist. I think there were a couple of great ideas in there, and some great lines here and there, but none of them were executed particularly well. It felt very "comic booky" though, like something Dark Horse would have published in the 90's.

As far as Blomkamp goes, we can probably expect a heightened role for Weyland-Yutani, or at the very least an ominous presence regarding the company in some way.

Blomkamp has said that he is not omitting 3 or 4 from the cannon, the new movie is set between Aliens and Alien 3. Remember how newt had grown up when they found her body? not sure if they will really explain how Hicks still has a fresh bandage on him but a lot of time has passed while they were in Hypersleep. A lot could have happened inbetween that, and they could explain a bit more about how Ripley managed to end up with a face hugger. Not too sure how they will work around Sigourney's age, she looks a lot different now.

Well he said he doesn't want to, not that for sure he's going to keep them canon. Neill has voiced that he only cares about the first two for story and approach, technically he could call Alien 3 and Resurrection fever-dreams, or hallucinations, or whatever and therefor they could be viewed as still relative to the canon. I wonder if Neill Blomkamp is talking with Ridley Scott about anything that might be in Prometheus 2 so he doesn't possibly step on his toes there. Really there's no way to put this between Aliens and Alien 3 and still keep Alien 3 and Resurrection a part of the canon the way they were, Ripley's age difference being the immediate cause of doubt, but also Hick's condition and appearance. Unless they say that the characters in Alien 3 who crashed are clones or something. Either way this officially disconnects Aliens: Colonial Marines from the canon for sure now, so that's already a great silver lining.

When you say ALiens Colonial Marines, are you talking about that video game? Because it is not even remotely canon.

Is there any other thing called Aliens: Colonial Marines? Yeah, that piece of shit. Before anything else was planned/announced, Aliens: CM was made under 20th Century Fox and was technically a part of the "canon." The only thing it did alright was save Hicks from dying, but other than that it was trash. Regardless, it was arguably canon before but now it's 100% crap as we've all truly known this entire time.

I wonder what that AVPR Alien warrior head is doing there... It's pretty dated now. NECA usually throws in some little hint in sneak peek photos. Maybe it's signifying they're implementing a more low profile neck articulation design? Either way, I think this will be the coolest Xenomorph out yet as it combines the original body and carapace with the more menacing and updated leg design. Definitely the ones I'd want to display with my Queen. When I aquire one...

They could be making Amanda Ripley, or for whatever reason the other people from Isolation, but I'd imagine it would be Amanda first and the others later. Maybe that they're delving into modern game figures for Alien they could do Specimen-6 from 2010's AVP and in the Predator line they could do Dark from 2010's AVP as well, a Rookie would be a cool marine figure too and a way to get the smart-gun out there.

They probably will. They would be able to use most of the series 4 Ripley in jumpsuit as a starting point, the head is already being done for this spacesuit figure, and any new clothing bits would be simple enough I imagine. That would also make the full series dedicated to Isolation.

Huh weird, TRU very rarely gets NECA's higher priced toys. Both of my closest TRUs didn't get it, even though the one of them is a bigger sized store they said it was too expensive of an adult oriented item for them to stock. It is a thing of beauty, at the end of the day it is clear that NECA loves Alien and Predator the most of all the licenses they get to use.
