Marvel Infinite Series Beast Variant Avengers Wave Photo Shoot

Posted on April 7, 2015 at 5:21 pm by DESTRO under Marvel Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

Beast is more than big, blue strong and furry. He is supremely smart. His expertise in mutant and human biology is unparalleled. When he’s not in the lab or the library. he is out in the field with his fellow X-Men ridding the world of it’s evils. Such a keen mind and physical prowess make Beast a formidable force on the academic lecture circuit or in battle.

Marvel Infinite Series Beast Variant

Pros
Nice head sculpt
Good leg articulation
Stands well in many poses

Cons
Very poor movement in the head due to the body
No ab crunch

Overall
As good of a figure as this Beast is, it could have been better! This could have been the Ultimate Beast figure if Hasbro would have just given him ab crunch and the ability to pose his head back. Having said that it’s still an awesome figure, and you can still get some nice poses out of the Beast….. Just not the iconic hand plant sprint.

We kick things of with Beast! It's a great figure, that could have been the best Beast ever made. All they needed to add is ab crunch and the ability for the head to tilt back.

Great pics! I agree, diaphragm/ torso articulation and a ball hinge on the neck would have went a long way on beast.

wrist articulation...for the love of pete. as it stands, pete is lonely.

Awesome pics! I had to get this figure, drawbacks aside, not as a Spider-Man figure per se, but as a "proto-Scarlet Spider" suit for Kaine.

Wow... they took away the wrist articulation on Spidey AND molded his hand in the same direction as his elbow bend? Super fail. Thwip handshakes are not the bizness, Hasbro.

i might consider getting this spidey, while i absolutely hate the 3.75 inch toy size, i do however like that this looks better then the big time spidey legends version.... If i do buy it, this will definitely be another one to stay in the package.

Jesus christ, it's 2015 and they're still releasing MU/MI figures with no ankle pivot? I can stand the removal of torso articulation, but not including ankle pivot is a crime against humanity at this point. This is almost as bad as 5 POA Marvel figures, but twice the cost.

I thought Beast has ankle pivots. For what it's worth Daredevil is a repack so he'll have the full Jim Lee buck package.

I think almost all of the 2015 MI figures has rocker ankles; looks like whoever shot the Spidey photos didn't bother to use them though.

Seeing names like William Baker make me cringe. What possessed Marvel writers to at some point say "Oh that "real name" you've known for decades isn't his real name, it's something else"? Sandman's not even the only victim. Off the top of my head I can also think of Rhino, Punisher, and Magneto.

Rhino's real name being Aleksei Sytsevich is much more fitting for a Russian than Alex O'hirn. O'hirn is awfully close to O'Hearn which is Irish, Rhino is most certainly Russian not Irish.

In 2007 it was retconned/revealed that his real name is William Baker and that as a high school student he called himself Flint Baker, then later when he first went to prison he used the alias Flint Marko to prevent his father from finding out that his son was a criminal and then he stuck with the alias throughout his super-villain career for the same reason.

retconns suck... can anyone say "clone saga" or Cyclops's forgotten brother... or the first, second team of X-men. Lazy writing that's all it is. Who the hell goes to prison without proper ID? Did they just believe Sandman when he said his name was Flint Marko? seriously I need three forms of ID to get a bank account, but Sandman gets into a SHEILD supermax with a fake ID?

These days. It wasnt too long ago that all you needed to make a fake identity was a guy good at arts and crafts. Think about all the Nazi's that lived their lives as different people and we never knew. Even today I suppose it's possible. Even just a legal name change could be something. That said, i dont see the point of renaming unless the original name was extremely lame or on the nose like calling a bank robber Jack Robber or something.

Like I said, O'hirn is a terrible name to give a Russian character. Sytsevich sounds hokey but it is a real last name that fits the Rhino's story.
In defense of the whole Punisher name deal, he legally changed his name to reenter the war so I get that. It was just an Americanization of his original last name, Castiglione (real Italian name) to Castle makes some sense.

Punisher and Rhino make sense to me - Bill Baker does not.

Anyway I have this figure on the way, hope he arrives soon along with Black cat! My Spidey-verse is ALMOST complete (just need that new Doc Ock and Vulture :P)

Only his friends can call him Bill, he's William to every one else. Flint Marko was better though, William Baker makes it sound like his power is rolling out dough and expanding yeast products. Flint Marko worked because there's nothing really cheesy about it, not like how in DC Victor Fries is the identity of Mr Freeze and his specialty is freezing stuff or any of the other numerous characters with real names built around their masked identities almost like their parents named them to be so.

Maybe I was a young idiot back when I read older Spidey but I don't remember Rhino being Russian until after the retcon.
