New Photos for Play Arts Kai Variant Iron Man

Posted on January 30, 2015 at 8:23 am by Joe Moore under Marvel Toy News

The first Marvel figure from Square Enix was originally revealed at New York Comic-Con 2014. Now, thanks to Amiami, we have our first really good look at the Play Arts Kai Variant Iron Man. The figure is the first in a series of redesigned Marvel characters coming from the Play Arts Kai line. Iron Man includes multiple interchangeable hands, leg missile attachments, leg exhaust pieces, and a figure stand. They have it priced at 9,080 Yen (about $77 USD) with a release in June.

Read on for the images.

I think the three way coloring is a little bit to much for a busy figure like that. Otherwise I think the figure looks good and I am leased that they return to more reasonable prices. 100 bucks for a figure was just a little bit to much for what they offer. I hope these figures are in scale with the DC variants, but the smaller price point could also suggest a smaller scale.

    On a side note:

Is it just me or are artist interpreting designing their own versions of a particlar character as saying goodbye to realistic human proportions?

The PAK iron man shown for example has really small hands, while having somewhat big legs. If you compare that with the recently released Iron Man by 3A with it's gigantic hands and it's duck feet you may see a trend.

Not sure what you are referring too. The figure has some weathering to it as you can see from the scratches and dents. I think the paint job is intentional to accompany that.

PAK goes really heavy on the highlights which I think is annoying. However, that is likely done to keep the price point of the figures somewhat low. I mean, giving the figure a quick overspray gives it highlights without much effort. However, I would like them to use simpler paint jobs with less but more subtle highlighting ..

To me, the armor looks badly burned, the black parts covered with soot. I want to wash it off!

Come on, we all know Hasbro doesn't like making new molds anymore.

waiting for pics of the Spidey.

I would consider this Iron Man in a different crazy color combo paint deco. Something like purple, silver and black.

no, the weathering i can understand, but even from these photos you can tell how thick that paintjob is. What i meant when i say bad paintjob is that you can obviously tell its paint, and not the material it is suppose to be (metallic). If you look back onto the Halo 4 series, yes, there is heavy weathering on master chief, but it also resembles metal, which is what the armor is suppose to be. This just looks like plastic with 50 layers of paint on top

i can totally accept this kind of paintjob if they are charging something cheaper say.....$50 or $60, but at a $100, i expect a lot better quality than this

Hmmmm.....Looks like I see per-order prices of $120 for this figure. So the price hasn't gone down after all :-( These guys are getting close to pricing me out of these figures

I'm all in on these PAK Marvel figures. Along with Star Wars.
I actually love their paint work and really happy with that I see so far!!

I'm going to sell all of my Legend figs to jump on board with these. Love the scale and designs are hitting the spot!!
