Boss Fight Updates Vintruvian H.A.C.K.S. Release Timeline

Posted on January 16, 2015 at 8:58 am by Joe Moore under General Toy News

Over on their Kickstarter page, Boss Fight Studio has posted about a delay on their upcoming Vintruvian H.A.C.K.S. figures. Boss Fight, as you may know, was also part of the Marauder Task Force figure Kickstarter. There was a small issue with the production of those and, since they are using the same factory, they need to iron out the kinks before going into production with the H.A.C.K.S.

This hiccup isn’t going to slow down their reveals, as they’ve also released images showing the paint master for the Tartarus Guard. You can see the full explanation and the new images by reading on.

Fromm Boss Fight Studio:

Hey again, backers!

Thank you all, once again, Boss Fighters! You helped us unlock nearly 50 items this summer!

Up to this point, we have been optimistically targeting February as our initial ship date. However, due to current circumstances, which we will discuss below, we are going to have a slight delay in the shipment of our figures.

Along with the Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. Kickstarter, many of you also contributed to the Marauder Task Force Kickstarter. The factory being used for both has been exceeding our expectations on nearly every level and what we have seen from them has been extraordinary. There were a few minor issues in the production of the Marauder product, which are being resolved. Our product will be produced at the same factory, and until those issues are cleared up for the MTF, our product will be pushed back. We are working closely with Marauder and the factory, and we’re optimistic that things will be resolved successfully and quickly.

Both Boss Fight Studio and Marauder are committed to providing the highest quality product possible and we are working together tirelessly to make sure the product for both teams meets or exceeds our very high expectations.

Next, because our items are being moved back slightly, our factory time is going to be pushing into Chinese New Year and the Spring Festival, which take place from February to March this year. For those of you who aren’t aware, this is a month-long celebration. During this time, our factory closes to allow the workers to celebrate with their friends and families.

When we started the V-HACKS project, we were offering 3 waves of 4 figures and 2 different Kickstarter exclusives, for a total of 15 items. As the Kickstarter moved ahead, full-steam, however, we added more figures, some completely new sculpts, along with some accessory packs, finishing with an amazing 50 different items!

Of course, when we inputted the time-line for our finished product, we had calculated for maybe reaching 30 items, but even reaching those stretch goals seemed unrealistic to us. We had no idea just how excited our backers would be for our figures! Even though we were given the opportunity to design, sculpt and produce so many additional items, we were still very hopeful that we would be able to deliver them by our February deadline. At this point, however, that is proving to be impossible.

We are estimating a few months’ delay and as we move along, we will be able to be a little less vague about exactly how long we are looking at.

We hope you all understand. We want you to be able to have the highest quality product we can provide. We will keep you updated as we receive more information and will make sure you are involved in every step of our progress. We know how excited you are. We are too!

Thank you all for all of your support! Boss Fight!

The sculpt on the figure looks great in person. They were really excited for it. I was talking to them a bit and, like a lot of fans, they're tired of the 5 points of articulation stuff too. They hinted at some cool stuff being done down the road, and not just the spartan figures, but a wide range of themes. Really looking forward to seeing what they have planned.

I wanna see that thing in different poses. The only thing I can complain about is the lack of a thigh swivel. Other than that, THIS is how you pique my interest in 4 inch figures. That thing has articulation that can almost match Marvel Legends.

Im in too. Im not personally into the Greek / Mythical stuff, but I'll support it as they move forward so they can do other things .

Personally, I'd like to see some robotic or future-tech military stuff. Not a G.I. Joe clone, something unique yet still military. Haloish I guess. And robits. Terminator/Robocop/BATS vs Halo/Gears/KillZone. Or something. One can dream.

I just want a 10 pack of those stands, x10. Smaller footprint than Joe ones, not as small as the other ones out there, can stop buying loosies with the wrong names on eBay.

Looks like he does to me.

I'm real happy with what Boss Fight is doing so far. I'm a little iffy on the hip articulation but I want to see one in person before I get too judgmental. Really looking forward to this release.

Edit: I saw a picture on their Facebook page that had the prototype posed a little and I am happy to say that the hip articulation looks like their take on the GI Joe T-bar. I don't know if that piece will be metal or plastic but it is one of my favorite (and in my opinion) best hip articulation system I've seen so far and to see Boss Fight use something similar has me excited more.

Q: Will you offer blank versions of your figure bodies for customizers?

A: That’s something we’ve talked about a great deal, and will likely be offered as a stretch-goal in our kickstarter campaign.

The male's feet rock back and forth. The female's feet rock side to side.

Uggh. This is a Kickstarter project? I was really hoping they'd launch at retail.

I think that the female figure's abs are a little too chiseled. Aside from that, the lack of thigh rotation, and the arm swivel being at the elbow, and not the bicep. They look good. I think that the guy should get ankle rockers too, but that's not that big of a deal breaker.

Are you saying the female has "rocker ankles" and the male does not? That would be unfortunate as I like that POA Hasbro has been doing lately.

Could be or there is a possibility that they are using the Kickstarter to gauge peoples interest in blank figures. If you participate in the program you might get them before everyone else as part of a stretch-goal but they could make it part of their regular catalog.
I was surprised they didn't decide to just do this outright since it's something customizers really want access to (and they claim to be customizers) so maybe they are guessing that a straight-up blank as their initial release wouldn't generate as much sales as a themed figure. I have faith in their vision for this line and I really think the blanks will get to the public regularly. I even think blanks on their own will outsell the themed figure line... As long as the figures are competitively priced.

I've had some problems with the bicep swivel, on the Marvel Universe figures it works pretty good but most of the figs I've seen from that line are pretty much "nudes," characters in spandex. It's when you start putting gear on the bodies like GI Joe that the bicep becomes an issue; the bulk of the upper arm begins to compete with the detail of the torso or web gear making holding weapons 2-handed kind of an issue.
But yeah, thigh rotation would be nice. It's something I think Joe figures are sorely lacking in.

I like rocker ankles in theory, unfortunately, Hasbro slaps them onto their figures careless. Most of their figures with rocker ankles look feeble when standing upright - either their feet point straight forward, or their toes point inward, causing pigeon toes, which doesn't look very heroic at all. If they would sculpt the shins to accept the rocker hinge at a slightly outward angle, that would fix the whole issue. With the traditional ankles, you can just turn the feet out by a small degree and give the figure a heroic stance.

Another, less important issue I have with rocker ankles is that they're harder to render compatible when swapping feet out. The traditional feet can simply be pulled off and plugged into effectively any other leg with the same kind of hole. But rocker ankles have a concavity that is proprietarily sculpted for the specific leg they're meant to connect to.

This is why I'd actually make a combination bicep swivel, and elbow swivel by making the elbow swivel plug into a piece that goes through the bicep area like the old Spidey line Venom, and the classic Hulk from the old ML Fin Fang Foom set.
