Hasbro Applies For New MASK Trademark
Oh HELL TO THE YYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAUUUHHHHH! Question is will they be joe scaled or like they were before? Either way price and quality dependent im in!
This is absolutely fantastic news! I am ALL IN!
Honestly, I could see it amounting to nothing more than brand protection.
It seems a bit odd that Hasbro hasn't ever tried to do more with the brand over the years other than a small tribute here or there in another Hasbro toy line. Sure times change but it seems like little boys still like cars and Transformers would seem to indicate that kids like cars that can do more than just be a car.
A bit odd that in the mad quest to become a movie studio that Hasbro hasn't touched MASK for the movie treatment either. While every car movie Hollywood makes isn't a good movie there are still some good car movies out there and adding the changing element into a car chase seems up there with some James Bond gadgets level fun.
Makes sense. GI Joe seems to be waivering a little bit and needs a breather until the next movie. So bringing MASK in for a bit makes sense.
Bonus if they manage to spin it out of Renegades. The Cyber Arashikage left a lot of potential open for future exploration, and Hasbro has hinted previously about trying to establish a cohesive franchise world. Could this be a task force to take on a new threat other than Cobra?
Lots of directions they could go, and they have been experimenting with the smaller vehicles and figures over with the marvel license and transformers human alliance anyway.
Cautiously optimistic until I see some designs and toy scale ideas, but the video game ideas are endless. This could be amazing in all kinds of formats from sandbox worlds to straight up twisted metal style races.
Kind of curious where they're going to take this, but glad to see them finally branching out more of their properties.
MASK crusaders working all the time, fighting crime! Ha, this was one of my all time favorites as a kid. I had most of the vehicles. Can't recall if I had Boulder Hill or not though. Would be great if they started making them again!
It remains to see if this is a reimagining of the concept only or will it also result in reissues of the original toys. All that chrome and rubber tyres, it wont be cheap
I wood Love to see a new MASK Cartoon. I just hope hasbro is Not going to do it. There killing G.i. Joe Transformers is not as good thanks to Transformers Prime. Hasbro even lost there network.
If this amounts to anything and it looks good, I'm all in. I'd love to see a Masterpiece styled tribute to the older figures. I think it would be neat if it was a Sub line. Would be nice to have a new Mask Masterpiece item show up every four months or so.
I've been keeping myself from starting another collection of the vintage stuff. Come on new stuff!
Huh. Between this and Visionaries a couple months back...Hasbro seems to be working on bringing back their second-tier nostalgia brands. Or perhaps more disappointingly and more likely, are just protecting their brands "just in case." (Remember when Hasbro reupped the ROM trademark a couple years back and all we got was a bobblehead?)
Can Centurions be far behind....?
Didn't they do the same thing with Micronauts?
I think in the current times, GI joe is really outdated especially when you see the US relying on private security forces to do the fighting, unless GI Joe is reinvented to be that or some militia group. MASK fits in perfectly into todays era since it is a private security force fighting a terrorist group.
Well, well, well... The plot thickens:
