DC Collectibles is continuing it’s line of figures based off the DC Universe animated movies with Son of Batman, and we have an early look for you today here at Toyark! The wave consists of Batman, Damian Wayne as Robin, Dick Grayson as Nightwing, and Deathstroke. It’s based off of the DC Animated movie that released earlier this year: DCU: Son of Batman. We’ve run the figures through a photo shoot for you a bit early, they’re set to release on 11/26 through Diamond / your local comic shops and online retailers. Check out over 60 high res shots of them in action after the break along with our thoughts!
DC Collectibles Son of Batman Deathstroke, Robin, Nightwing and Batman
Pros
Style is accurate to the movies
Give those looking for it a unique version of the characters
Damian can work with other lines well
Cons
Lack of articulation, specifically ankles
Tend to fall over if not posed perfectly
Overall
The figures stay in line, and the story is in continuity with the Justice League: WAR, which is basically the animated movie version of the New 52 relaunch. They are even numbered in line with those WAR figures, these are numbers 7-10 of the DCU Animated Movie line. I do like that they are keeping that theme concurrent in the movies and the toys. They feature a very cartoon-ish look and a bit less articulation than could have been, but they keep the sleek streamlined style the movies portray. These are all characters we’ve had multiple times over, so getting them in a themed style, an ongoing one, is fine by me. The Damian Wayne Robin works particularly well, and it can easily fit in on a shelf with Batman from another line of figures. The paint is well done, using a flatter paint which covers most if not all of the figure. Cut lines in the suits are painted on rather than sculpted to mimic the animation look.
These stylized figures won’t be for everyone, but those looking for something different than what they already have will find a well done, simplified line up. Batman and Damian by themselves work well, offering a cool alternate look on a Bat-themed shelf celebrating this version of the characters in history. If you dig them, they’ll be in stores next week!

First Look - DC Collectibles Son of Batman Figures - The Toyark - News

From the belt up, the Batman and Deathstroke look great. The way the cape drapes over Batman's shoulders is really well done. That crotch line though...I don't get that choice.
Yeah, as a pure action figure guy, I want super poseability and articulation by default. But after you get over that hump and just accept them for what they are, they are nice. I really like the Batman and Damian as a set, Those two by themselves even if you grabbed no other Animated line figures works well as a mini display.
Yeah, the Damian definitely looks to be a winner the more I look at the pics. The sculpt is pretty spot on.
i have the deathstroke prordered, cant wait
how is it?
Nice! I really wasn't expecting Damian to have any elbow or knee articulation, so the final product is a nice surprise. The head sculpt actually looks better as well. It's also great to see that the green armor is sculpted, not painted on.
I'm just curious if the Batman Inc. Damian head sculpt will be a decent fit on that body. I have one set aside to hopefully make a custom Robin that fits in better with New 52 toys.

They've done Nightwing at least 3 times since relaunch, so doubling up Damian shouldn't be an issue.
I've been wondering myself if they'll be doing a New 52 Damian at some point because of the Robin Rises arc. Whether they do or not, this particular version is pretty sweet regardless. It helps that I liked the movie.
Does it feel fragile at all? I've hit some bad luck recently with DCC purchases, with limbs that have either broken off or will break in the very near future. I already get kinda twitchy just looking at these pics, those limbs are pretty skinny and frail-looking. And can you tell if any of these have the clear plastic in their joints?

Why no Talia? She was far more important in that movie than Nightwing.
Too bad that Damian sucks in articulation as he looks superior to Mattel's.
Because Nightwing stole the show...or movie I guess. What little bit he was in he was easily the best part.
These are pretty cool, although I dont like the "wet suit" look for Slade :/
I loved the animated film but these figures seem a lazy with one possibly best figure which is nightwing ... if you look at the belts the utility belt could be better the pouches being 3d looking the buckles being 2d and thought meh its okay looked at batmans one and thought they could make them slightly 3d and how thin why not do the whole belt.
Nighwting by his design is fine because he doesnt really have a buckle but Damian and batman seem to be lacking its the buckle that puts me off batman seems to be slightly acceptable , robins one just seemed like lot of effort then gave up after 90% of the way and slades one seem only 50% done overall painted straps and buckles don't do it for me , when you have low articulation figures and if they go for like £20 a figure they dont seem worth it when i compare to marvel legends.
