NECA Reveals Pacific Rim 7-Inch Scale Series 5 Jaegers

Posted on November 4, 2014 at 1:00 pm by Joe Moore under Robot and Mecha Toy News

Two Jaegers join the Pacific Rim 7″ scale figure line-up for series 5. NECA has just revealed Anchorage Attack Gipsy Danger and Romeo Blue, both of which are due out in January. The new Gipsy Danger is a fully battle damaged sculpt, showing the immense damage the Jaeger takes during the movies opening battle. Romeo Blue is a Mark I Jaeger from the opening newsreel of the film. Both files were created from the actual digital renders used in the film.

These look really good I will be replacing my battle damaged Gypsy Danger for this one for sure. I'm just hoping they bring back the peg hole as my orignal Gypsy Danger fell over from time to time prior to using the neca stands and both Coyote Tango and Cherno Alpha do not have peg holes and Coyote never stands still for more than a week.

Unfortunately NECA has said that no future Pacific Rim figures will have peg holes in their feet. I've also had problems with Coyote Tango falling in the past, I find the solution is to bend his knees a bit and spread his feet a little making it harder for it to lean in any particular direction. I hope we get a Karloff kaiju in upcoming waves, he wouldn't even be a deluxe kaiju like Scunner or the others since he was smaller, but I really dig the design.

I recently picked up Coyote Tango off the floor from falling and I realized his left shoulder mounted gun had almost completely broke off. Luckily the break was mostly hidden when I glued him back together. He is now hot glued to his stand as I had no other options, but I really don't mind it as the hot glue typically peels right off when I want to change a pose or take some pics.

Do you also have the problem with his "Bolt" on his knee joints falling out? I have had to put that back more times than he has fallen over.

My Coyote Tango's right shoulder cannon is actually "broken". It came this way in packaging I think, I just didn't notice until she fell the first time. It plugs back on and doesn't have the slightest indication that it was ever not attached, I think it just wasn't ever actually glued on for my figure. As to knee problems, I haven't had any issues with parts on my figure's knees. Sometimes her ankles will allow for too much leaning, but I found that making each foot angled different than the other and slightly bending the knees balances the weight there. Technically my CT is not as 100% as it could be, but she's my favorite/2nd favorite jaeger so I still love the figure. If you've been reading this like "she? her? what's ESN talkin' about?" it's because I refer to most jaegers as "she" or "her" since they're technically ships and people refer to ships as feminine.

I have been thinking about that point for a while now. That we keep getting Jaegers (Ships) and Kaiju, but wouldn't it be really cool if they did a pilot series as well. I know for them to be in scale they would need to be microscopic, but I wouldn't mind fully sized figures in their pilot gear. Then they could do some more 2 packs of the pilots with thier specific Jaeger or even a Jaeger pilot 2 pack as you know it takes two people to pilot a Jaeger.

Just my thoughts, but I would be scooping those up if they existed

It seems the general demand for pilots just isn't high enough to justify producing the figures. NECA said they could make them if after every Jaeger and Kaiju there is still enough demand, but I think that by the time we get every mech and monster the sequel could already be rolling out and then they'd focus on those designs.

Romeo Blue. It was only in the prologue, seen most clearly during the parade celebrating its victory. It also got a shoe! At some point it was destroyed by a Kaiju.
