DC Collectibles Catch Up Gallery – Red Hood and the Outlaws

Posted on October 19, 2014 at 12:00 pm by Tony_Bacala under DC Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

Red Hood and the Outlaws is our next DC Collectibles catch up gallery. This set came out earlier this year, and features the New 52‘s Jason Todd as the Red Hood, Starfire and Arsenal, aka the Red Arrow. The team act as anti-heroes, all cast out in some way or another yet still fighting for good in their own way. The DC Collectibles versions of the figures are solid, especially the Red Hood, which has great sculpting and paint. He’s a great accent piece to a DCC Batman display. Starfire has a pretty nice translucent hair feature, fading from her normal red locks into flames. Arsenal‘s main selling points include a hat that twists backwards and detailed arm tats. Articulation has increased since the earlier New 52 figures, tho aren’t at DCUC or Marvel Legends levels. All these figures are out now, check your local comic spots and online retailers for availability – but not before you read on for over 35 high res shots!

Disclaimer: DC Collectibles provided these figures for review purposes.

Have had a bunch of DCC stuff sitting here for a bit, sharing some quick shoots of not-super-new stuff. Starting with...

I own this pack, the figs are very well sculpted, but maybe a little short on the articulation/posability department, specialy Power Girl. Good set anyways..
    Nice photos.

They look really good! Out of scale for my interests, but attractive sculpts nevertheless....

Power Girl is a little less than 6.75 inches, a little taller than DCUC Armored Lex Luthor. Just did a quick measure on the shelf.

I could do without Arsenal and Slutfire, but I kind of want that Red Hood. However, the lack of articulation bothers me. Oh, and those blades on his glove not being removable.

I bought the Red Hood figure. Not too bad, except for those awful blades. I honestly hate the hood though. No fault of DC Collectibles, just poor design IMO. It's shocking to me that we still have yet to see the Under the Red Hood version of Jason Todd. Animated or comic, the Under the Red Jason Todd is the most infamous version. So far we have; Arkham Knight(2 figures), New 52, and Infinite Earth. Seriously, WTF is wrong we these toy companies. Get with it. If I see another Jason Todd figure that's not from Under the Hood I say we riot lol

I really don't like the lips on the mask, it's way too silly and says power ranger over vigilante. Are you counting the detective vision 3.75" Red Hood as a second figure? Otherwise I don't get what the second figure is besides the regular one out now.

    There are 2 Arkham Knight Red Hood figures. The Mattel Multiverse version is currently out. The second version is made by DC Collectibles and is up for preorder here;

Did not know about that until now, neat. I do have a problem though with Red Hood getting the Mattel multiverse figure before the game even comes out. The Red Hood will be DLC for Arkham Knight and not in the game from the start (unless they change this as consolation for pushing the game's release), so having the toy available so early feels weird to me. Though the Gamestop exclusive Red Hood makes sense since that's where you pre-order the game to get the exclusive Red Hood story add-on (which I assume will be made available to non pre-orderers at a later point).

    2 Things...
1- Stop making me want more of those Flame Effects. I can't afford all I want as it is :-)

2- Did not know about the DC Direct Red Hood coming or being a GS exclusive. I will probably get it, but I really hate that look. He looks like a wannabe version of The Hood from Marvel. I agree that I have never seen why they don't make the proper Red Hood a figure.

I'm in the minority regarding Red Hood. This action figure is the absolute PERFECT version for me. New 52 Jason Todd is my favorite, and the two pages from early on in Red Hood and the Outlaws where Jason actually used those glider gauntlets are easily among my top 10 pages of artwork from comics. I just wish they included his all-blades/swords as well.

Plus every single artist draws his helmet differently, and everyone has their favorite(mine is Patrick Gleason's Iron Man-esq version, but I'm crazy about this one too). Perhaps they could have included alternate heads, but I suppose the sculptor was going for that very specific look from issue #2 or #3.

I doubt it's the last we'll see of a DCC Red Hood. Like previously stated, there's the Gamestop exclusive Arkham Knight one... although that version seems to have stolen Mr. Terrific's jacket, plus the helmet is a solid piece with no eyes. With Jason being so involved in the Batman comics (especially now, in Eternal) I fully expect him to end up as a designer series release at some point, probably with an unmasked head as well. That's just my guess, though.

Agreed, the articulation is a trade off for a clean looking figure. DCC constantly struggles with that.

And... Batgirl is up, another well done female IMO.

If I had a place to display them, I'd totally get Huntress, Power Girl, Starfire, and Zatanna. I have Supergirl and Batgirl and I'm glad that my figures ended up with good paint on the eyes and lips.

Yeah! Crossed eyes drive me nuts. Full points to DCC for quality in that regard. I was blown away by the pinpoint accuracy of the eye pupils in the Batman figure from Arkham Origins Wave One.

Supergirl turned out great, although I don't know why she included a shard of Kryptonite. I still display her with it in her hand just so I don't lose it.

DCC has been knocking it out of the park recently, Constantine's head sculpt aside. There have been a few odd choices regarding articulation here and there, but nothing that ruined a particular figure, in my opinion.
