Here we have our third photo shoot from the release of McFarlane’s The Walking Dead Building Sets. In addition to The Governor’s Room, Daryl Dixon on Motorcycle and the Prison Tower, they also released a multi-pack of five figures. Included in the set is Rick Grimes (Season 3 pose and outfit), Merle Dixon and three very different Walkers. Unlike the blind bags, this set lets you know which five figures you are getting, which makes it more appealing for those who hate hunting down figures and winding up with lots of duplicates.
After the jump, you can find a gallery of 70 detailed photos as well as my thoughts on the figures.
Walking Dead Building Set Figure Pack
Pros
- 5 very different figures
- No duplicates in the set
- Great paint application
- Solid sculpts with good likenesses
Cons
- None
Overall
This set wound up being a great purchase. Priced at $15, I couldn’t pass it up. I despise blind bag items (though McFarlane at least lets you know if you are getting humans or Walkers), so being able to get 5 different figures off the bat was great. The figures, other than Rick, come unassembled. they go together in seconds, so that’s not a problem. Also included with each figurte is a small plastic base to help them stand. Rick was the only one that really required me to use it.
Like the figures included in the sets, these are highly detailed sculpts for just 2″ tall figures. Rick Grimes, in particular, features a pretty spot on likeness of Andrew Lincoln. Merle isn’t quite as recognizable, but that is mainly due to the exaggerated expression. The stand out pieces of this set are the Walkers. Each one is completely different, which was a big draw for me. The style and colors used are vastly different between the three, and will make great horde pieces as I build up my collection.
I’ve got no complaints with this set. It gives me two main characters from Season 3 of The Walking Dead and three great Walkers. I’ve got a few select shots below, with the full gallery after that.
