At New York Comic-Con 2014, we got a look at a new set of statues coming from Good Smile Company. The statues depict stylized versions of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They have sent out an image as well as a press release for the first statue right before we started our NYCC coverage.
GOOD SMILE COMPANY CREATES COLLECTIBLE SCULPTURES OF NICKELODEON’S TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES
Four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles statues based on the artwork of renowned fine artist James Jean
Here is more info from our official press release!
Based on acclaimed fine artist James Jean’s original rendition of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Good Smile Company has made four individual sculptures that can be combined to create one large diorama sculpture. The individual statues will roll out separately, starting with the pre-order release of Leonardo in November 2014 and the remaining three in 2015.
Prototype samples of the highly detailed statues, along with Jean’s original image, will make their first appearance at the Good Smile Company booth (#422) at New York Comic Con between October 9th and October 12th.
A key highlight to this exciting project is the collaborative efforts between Takanori Aki, President and CEO of Good Smile Company, Inc. and James Jean. Known as the most awarded cover artist in comic book history and renown for a global collaboration with Prada, Jean stepped away from commercial work to focus on painting. Jean was asked by his good friend Aki to make a rare appearance back into the realm of commercial art to help in the visual development of the sculptures. Jean created an image that is reminiscent of the classic comic book version the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
“James Jean is a good friend and one of the most talented artists that I have had the fortune to work with,” says Takanori Aki. “The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles art piece he created for our project is truly fantastic. Staying true to his vision, our Good Smile Company creative team worked intricate details into the collectible statues which capture the essence of his artwork and will be just as great.” Jean says, “Good Smile Company and I have shared many adventures in the past, and this is a unique and rare collaboration that I hope the fans will treasure.”
Huge news right! We’re making the Ninja Turltes into amazing scaled figures! For those coming to New York Comic Con this year you’ll get to see them first in person! For now have a taste of Leonardo!
Good Smile Leonardo TMNT Statue Image and Info

Interesting. I didn't know that this was actually four seperate statued that could be displayed as one piece. I imagine they'll still be kinda pricey, but individually not as bad as if it was one singular statue.
Also, no offense to him, but I've never heard of this James Jean artist they keep raving about. Though I really like his artwork that this is based on. Any chance that'll be sold as a poster?
James Jean did the covers for at least the first 100 issues of Fables. He's really, really good.
Statue and artwork look excellent.
Now the question is how much?
i have some more pics of the rest of the statues

took these at NYCC they had them up on display

Not bad. Presumably all 4 will have similar bases that "connect" to form a cool diorama.

is it just me or do these look more like frogs?
Maybe a bit but they still look awesome though.
I think Raph should have had Don's podium. Hopefully, they are interchangeable. I think that is more indicative of their personalities.

They look cool together, still not keen on the heads but personal taste aside
I cant deny those are great sculpts + paint jobs
Since quality TMNT merchandise is all but non existent, I would've liked to have seen something more nostalgic. The statues are very well done in regards to paint and overall quality. The style is just kinda weird IMO. Is it so hard to get some TMNT adult collector stuff?! Maybe when we're 100, Playmates Toys greedy contract with Nickelodeon end lol
Anyone know if that print/poster is available? I've got all the statues on the way and I'd love to have that print to accompany it. I've searched everywhere and I can't find it.
Where did you order from? I am still waiting for my last one from BBTS
1 - If you order all 4 directly from GSC, you'll get the print for free.
2 - Each turtle comes with a code that you redeem on a website. Redeem all 4 and you get the print for free.
I saw the insert that came with my Leo, but I didn't look much into it. I was going to wait till I got all 4 before I redeem any of them.
Here's a pic I took a few weeks ago of my Leo and ArtFX+ Deadpool:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Shredder Statue by Good Smile Company - The Toyark - News

These are all so totally rad. I'm not really into statue collecting but these are all so well done I would consider getting them all.
That statue is vicious. Anyone that digs that menacing look, that figure has it.
Why do these have to be so pricey?

Everything from this line looks great, including this. Though I've never been a fan of this iteration of Shredder.
