The Toyark’s S.H. Figuarts Dragonball Z catch up galleries continue today with the first San Diego Comic Con exclusive of the line – Super Saiyan Goku! This is a repaint of the regular release SS Goku, but with a more detailed paint application. Colors are meant to be “Anime” inspired, rather than from the Manga, so he’s rocking a darker orange gi. The hair also featured additional detailing, and the skin tone is darker than the regular release. This was the figure that really set the line off, showing what it could be, and suckered long time DBZ fans into buying all these guys over again. Check out over 35 shots and our thoughts after the break!
Make sure to check back every day for the next week+ as we share our high resolution SHF DBZ catch up galleries!
S.H. Figuarts Dragonball Z SDCC 2011 Exclusive Super Saiyan Goku
Dense heavy plastic feel
Colors are better than regular release
Paint apps on the hair rock
Not a fan of the purple belt and wristbands
Currently super expensive
This was my first figure of the line, grabbing him at random in person at SDCC 2011. After sitting with him for a bit, I researched and found out there were more. Grabbed some back issues and I was hooked. He really is still one of the best. As mentioned above, the only thing that turns me off is the purple belt. I think it was present in the Anime at times, but I’d prefer a blue to match the shirt as seen more often. Since this is a repaint, I won’t go into mold specific dings. Overall tho, it’s a solid figure, well done, feels good in the hand. Unfortunately he is very expensive right now, so new fans to the line will have to go deep for him. If you can tho, pick him up!
Note: The Dragonballs and mini Shenron featured in these pics do not come with SDCC Goku.
Make sure to check back tomorrow for Super Saiyan Vegeta!
