In a few posts on the MattyCollector Forums, Toyguru Scott Neitlich has revealed that the DC Total Heroes Ultra line will not be continuing. Fan demand wasn’t there and these 6″ figures will ride off into the sunset. Here’s some of what Toyguru posted:
No, the line has not sold well enough for a 2015 line and will conclude with Firestorm. We can only make figures when there are enough customers to buy them!
…
Absolutely understand the frustration when a toy line you love ends. The DC retail team will continue to work with fans and listen to all of there suggestions and comments for future DC action figures from Mattel!
…
These aren’t details we share publicly, but essentially they did not meet sales goals to keep the line going.
…
Correct. Only the ultra deluxe figs on Matty are wrapping up.
So what are your thoughts on the DC Total Heroes Ultra line being cancelled? Let us know in the discussion.
Action Figure Insider » Mattel Confirms There Will Be No 2015 DC Total Heroes Ultra Figures on Matty
This is official the Ultra Figures are cancelled the sales were poor. They will still produce the Retail portion but the likelihood of them lasting long is slim.
They should have just sold these at retail too as deluxe figures.
in all fairness these didn't suit me , i was excited cause they were 6inch but lacked the articulation compared to classics wave
I might get the Batman Beyond one.
Didn't the first two sell out rather fast? How can they claim that they didn't sell well enough?
At least they're not trying to increase sales of the next two by saing that they'll continue the line if they sell well enough.
Their stupid Subscription obsession kills another line
Come on, I think it is quite apparent that Mattel is planning to close up Matty Collector after MOTUC ends next year. They don't want to get involved with making new stuff when they are closing up shop.
Hell, their contract with Digital River probably ends next year as well.
I think its pretty clear they've seen a huge FAIL stamp on their Adult Collector market. But they did it to themselves for sure. Between subscription exclusives, bad character choices, articulation compromises, and overpricing, they have single-handedly created their lacking "enough customers to buy" market.
I believe they are slowly backing out of the Adult collector market and leaving that to the Barbie and HotWheels fanatics. They have done a huge disservice to the DC crowd for years now. Really I hate to admit it after being a True Blue DCU guy for 6+ years, they should have stopped after DC SuperHeroes. Those were A+ and outside of "completeing" the Super Powers line-up, the rest of the line was a scattered mixed waste not unlike diahrea <--- not how you spell it--- bits of teams and repaints here, chunks of character arcs there, and for some reason, corn.
I shake my head, you big turd machine.
... that'll teach you to cancel my DCUC Superboy.
Seriously, THAT was supposed to replace DC Universe Classics? Meanwhile, Marvel heralds the return of Legends, and they're actually worthy of the title Marvel Legends.
Well if they stopped trying to make everything worth a shit an overpriced sub thing and actually put out non exclusive BAF waves out instead of assanyne case packs that made figs hard tp impossible to find and BAFs impossible to complete the classics mighta sold better. These things, total heroes, were damned from the get go. Natty put out classics with two full BAF sets per box....no variants or exclusive to whatever store. Just solid full waves evenly packed.
This line was not for me....I am not planning on buying another Mattel figure....
Never improved their products. I cannot understand why fans are afraid of criticizing their figures?
THey were garbage, and Mattel did not care....
DC awarded them another continuation of the license and claimed they are doing a great job...I laughed and cancelled all my DCC preorders because of it....although I have soften my stance as Batman TAS keeps calling.
I do critize their figured heavily but if you compare the DCUC figures to the Marvel Legends. The DCUC are better. Every adult collector told them we wouldn't buy them but Mattel insisted on moving forward anyway. Scott Neitlich never understood why we loved the DCUC figures, and now we find out what his true colors are. In truth we have hit Mattel hard and yes not buying Total Heroes proved to him that his feeble attempt at representing the DC fans is failing..
I will say that I just have a feeling that this Doomsday thing was going to lead in a New DCUC seeing that Marvel Legends had made a Successful return, but the Leaking of the Photo is causing Scott some headache, because if you go right down to it Scott Neitlich Lied to us
Not surprised by this. I figured this was coming. These were worse than where DCUC was headed from the start. I will be picking up Batman Beyond and I have the standard release of Batman. These reminded me of Marvel Mashers. The retail stuff has already been on clearance locally.
DCUC stuff hadn't been on par with Marvel Legends for some time. That said, I enjoy the SDCC Doomsday figure and I'm not a Superman fan or a big DC guy outside of Batman. I'd like to be able to purchase the Unleashed version.
Honestly you all claim Marvel Legends are so great... I have some and just could careless about them nothing great or so wonderful, The joint don't seem to fit and typically are exposed.
Hell, their contract with Digital River probably ends next year as well.
I also think it's a little early to be dancing on Total Heroes' grave here. Keep in mind that even though the regular and Ultra figures both carry the Total Heroes banner, they are treated as separate lines by Mattel because they are covered by different teams (retail and online, respectively).
Who knows? Maybe future Ultra figures will come to retail as deluxe releases or future store exclusives.
[Sorry, couldn't resist

can anyone tell me if the Batman Beyond will be coming out based on this annoucement? I'm not sure if comes out before or after the Firestorm mentioned in the article. thanks!
I wanted dcuc to be better, but they were not even close. At the height toy biz days, forget the double joints, we got massive bafs really great diorama bases and weapons galore.
Best i got from Mattel was. A batarang...1 batarang...and a constant reused baf. The paint detailing ed used once every two series....
I love superman, but the figure s are crap. I own 3 regular superman s, and countless other versions such eradicator, looking hair, 2packs....
I get blasted on the legends appreciation thread for being honest. People hate hearing honesty....i grew out of that phase years ago, but many people hate criticism of themselves things they like. What did Mattel do better? They overpriced their junk and u bought probably hundreds.
and of course this is not Mattel's fault, is Ours....
Yeah, they are ridiculous like how the mini MOTUC figures are probably going to be blamed for not selling well, even though they are charging $30 for 2 small figures that are smaller that Imaginext figures.
I hope they do go down Scott is a horrible representative of the brand and is plain out rude to customers, as long as he stays out of the Imaginext department of Mattel I won't care what he does.
They aren't tanking the Multiverse line yet at least. The upcoming figures are looking great.

i do have a question, which would be the better batman beyond figure, this one or the one released in dc universe, im assuming they are the same size, but ive read the other to be either 4.5 or 6 inches, unless there are 2 of them? my dc figures are from DCC so i dont know the other lines
thanks
