What started as an odd exclusive with the San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive NES Jason Voorhees has turned into a full blow, and very popular line of repaints inspired by 8-bit (and soon to be 16-bit) video games. Now the line of classic video game inspired figures continues with NECA’s NES Predator. This repaint of their Classic Predator mold is based on the Predator, as seen in the intro of the classic (I use the term loosely here) NES Predator Video Game. The line will continue next with their Sega Master System Rocky and their 16-Bit Robocop vs Terminator figures.
We have 45 photos of the NES Predator. The figure was provided by site sponsor Entertainment Earth.

Pros
- Great sculpt
- Color looks great on the figure
- Decent articulation
- Packaging is still great
Cons
- Some joints can be a bit loose
- Details can hinder some articulation
Overall
I’m not really into the Predator figures, but I’ve always thought that NECA’s figures looked pretty good. However, I am a big fan of retro games, and the odd paint scheme combined with the NES style packaging was too hard to pass up. I was definitely not disappointed. The packaging harkens back perfectly to the original NES box. The figure itself is based on the opening cinematic, where the sprite fades in and out and appears blue for a brief moment. It features good, but not great articulation. Sculpting and accessories can hinder some of the movement of the figure, limiting the poses a bit. The paint, though, looks fantastic on the figure. The different shades of blue, combined with the black, really showcase the very detailed sculpt. NECA made some really nice choices in mimicking the hard edge shading of an old 8-bit sprite. If you liked the way the NES Robocop was painted, then you’ll be ecstatic with this figure.
In the end, I am really glad to add this to the NECA Video Game collection. It’s a great looking figure, even if the game was forgettable. The paint application and detailed mold make this a worthy purchase for fans of Predator or the NECA game line. Check out a few highlights below and 45 photos after that.

Nice gallery, those things really pop on black. And the Predator looks just as sweet as the others.
I've had mine for a good while now, and none of mine's joints are particularly loose. Love this and the NES Robocop, the Batman looks neat, but then the Rocky NES figure looks bland and uninspired.
That looks pretty cool in blue. Could easily pass as one of the Kenner homages. And it may have been done in a comic or something but I'd LOVE to see Robocop taking on Predator.
The winner is: you decide, every person will have their own opinion.
Both figures are absolutely great and I recommend those two, at least to any fan of either franchise.
My favorite thing about this guy, is like someone said earlier, despite the cell shaded look, he falls in very nicely with the Kenner throwbacks, and also goes well with the Lost Predators and Dead End Predators.
I really enjoy this line, and while it doesn't have the same charm of the initial entries (the Jason one is still king in my book) they are still pretty nifty. Better yet...nearly there are still several properties that NECA has not done yet that had 8bit games that we could still see. Gremlins, Aliens, Godzilla would all fit perfectly in this line up, as they were all fairly forgettable (not to mention blisteringly punishing) games.
I wonder if NECA still has that Shredder prototype that was never released from their TMNT line lying around somewhere. If they could somehow get permissions from Playmates to release it as a part of this wave in a manner similar to the deal NECA has worked out with Mattel for their Batman figure, that would be a KILLER SDCC exclusive in waiting.
Got this couple weeks ago . The patin job is very cool
but good old Neca some how made the legs different sizes so the figure does not stand correctly ! For 25.00 you think they could have done that right ugh!
I don't really collect stuff that's not 3 3/4, but...
I was lucky enough to score a jason last year off neca's website and I've been a sucker for these guy since. I told myself I was just gonna get freddy, then just robocop, but I preordered this guy the other day.
your galleries suckered me into the black series too, thanks a lot guys.
you guys make everything looks so good in the photos that I'm gonna go broke. dang it.
The figure design looks superb, but I couldn't care less about the blue paint job. Re-issue in cinematic colors, and I'll buy it in a second.
You're right! Thanks guys. I'm such a dolt. I loved the McFarlane classic predator, but never thought to check if anybody did better articulated version more recently. Ordering now! Wish I found this ToyArk years ago. Rgds
This NECA NES Predator and their Albino SDCC Exclusive are my 2 favorite. Both very Unique.
If you need an unmasked version of the Jungle Hunter, I HIGHLY recommend the Dutch/Jungle Hunter Final Battle two pack that was a TRU exclusive a while back. It also utilizes the retooled body, and the Dutch figure that it comes with is pretty amazing as well.
