NECA has revealed their next video game inspired figure. They will be releasing a Batman based of the NES game for Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman film. This will also mark NECA‘s first 7″ DC figure! The figure will feature a purple and blue color scheme to mimic the look of the Batman sprite in the NES game.
The figure, which looks to be a scaled down version of their 18-Inch Michel Keaton Batman, will feature 25 points of articulation. It will include a removable cloth cape, a Batarang and a grapnel gun. It’s due for release in October.
UPDATE:
NECA confirms that they will not be releasing a movie accurate color version of the 7″ NES Batman. See below:
@Blanka1212 Asks – Might we see standard colored Batman from you in 7 inch????
@NECA_TOYS Replies – No but it’s an easy repaint for most no?
Check out the images after the jump.
Oh my:

Staff Edit:
NECA NES Batman Figure
I'm guessing that NECA doesn't have the rights to just to a Keaton Batman in this scale and so they went the game route. Still picking this up, but I need this in traditional colors.
Because what everyone was clamoring for was a video game accurate Batman???
Seriously. I feel like it's both really cool and a kick in the nuts at the same time. That's why I wonder if it is a licensing thing.
Wow. I'm not sure if that's cool looking or just down right weird.
Dollars to donuts it's a licensing thing. See, Mattel has the rights to make figures of all the live action and comic versions of Batman in the traditional action figure scales (4in. and 6in.) and Hot Toys/NECA have rights for the other scales (IE whatever size Hot Toys figures are) and since NECA's usual scale of figures is AWFUL close to 6in scale, they're probably not allowed to do a movie-colored Bats, but the game version is up for grabs.
I'll definitely get it because I actually have a lot of fondness for the game itself. One of the earliest memories I have of getting a game. Picked it up at Roses before going to get a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
I'll just imagine he's always in the dark or something. If only they at least colored that symbol.
I actually think it looks really cool, I've been waiting for NECA to make a game figure that would interest me personally...
I know there is no guarantee that we'll get this figure in movie accurate colors but I don't see why they would go to all of the trouble to make the sculpt so detailed JUST for an 8 bit video game model. Plus, NECA loves to repaint and retool most of there figures a couple of times anyways.
Those sure as hell look like Keaton's lips!
This is really cool...and I'm hoping that we'll see another version in just the classic movie colors.
I'm wondering though, if they can do a video game version of movie Keaton, would they be able to do a video game version of Darth Vader? (with bonus scorpion accessory!)
I'm also curious, this NES video game series would be the PERFECT venue for NECA to finally get out that Shredder figure they sculpted so very long ago when they were doing their TMNT line, but never got around to releasing. Few of us who played it were ever able to make it to the final boss of that punishing game (I was luckily), and it would finally give those of us that couldn't get past those stupid stinging vines in the swimming level the chance to finally see the NES Shredder in all his glory!
The box cover art to that game was iconic as well, to this day it's one of the most bad ass looking covers to a game I've ever seen! I used to have the poster insert of it (from Nintendo Power if I remember) hanging on my wall for years. I really miss that thing...
Thanks for the heads up!

Even if they cannot do movie accurate colors, there's still a few recolors they could do.
NES Batman Returns
Sega Master System Batman
Also, no thread on this should exist without a link to the awesome music from the game.
Batman (NES) Soundtrack - Stereo - YouTube
That music transports me back to a simpler time...a simpler time when I was never able to get past the second level and I still loved that game just because Batman was attached. Time to boot up the NES and...RAGE QUiT! This game is too hard
this is awesome, i love this NECA series just because of it's uniqueness....i grabbed the NES robocop
I know the wording is funny, removable cape but does that mean scowl also so we can see the Keaton face sculpt?
I could beat the NES Batman as a kid. I remember when I first defeated Firefly, I damn near bustanut. Like the Grim Reaper in Castlevania, that boss before the final battle was always the hardest.
Absolutely no interest in this figure though. I only got NES Robo and Pred because the boxes look cool standing behind the regular figures.
I figure Neca says if we put this version out..there are customizers who will make it an "official" Keaton 6 in version
Win Win for them

NECA confirms no movie accurate repaint.
LOL, I like Neca's reply. Is it me or does the head seem too big? I'll get it, I was about to customize one of my DCU Batman any way. A repaint should be easy. Especially if you have an airbrush.
So, if NECA doesn't have the rights to make a 1/12 scale Keaton Batman, there are odds that plans are in place for someone to produce some. I can, with almost great certainty, guarantee that you will see an all encompassing DC movie line by someone other than Mattel within the next 5 years. Probably not BvS, but older movies.
In fact, one need not look much further than the last DC Collectibles Q and A session...
it pisses me off when incapable companies get licenses to cool stuff.
it's ridiculous. hopefully there's something in the pipeline.
i'm still amazed that mattel hasn't capitalized on their DC multiverse figures by producing a 4" scaled burton batmobile.
oh well.. my batman fix has DEFINITELY been met with the TAS figures.. those are absolutely incredible.. they look like they literally walked right off the screen.. i can't wait for them.
but still i just want a 6" scale burton batmobile/batman.. or 7".. or 4"..

Oh and TAS...the last time I was this excited for a toy line was when I was a little boy who had just watch TAS on TV and literally dreamt of the day figures would be made for it. So soon!
Looks to be a licensing issue. So best answer Neca could give is the one they gave. but it confirmed my suspicions as to the fate of the figure.. probably the only way to keep the cost low as well...either way can get airbrushing skills in order by trying it out on this figure...
