MOTU – “All Toy Lines Must End” Poster

Posted on June 23, 2014 at 9:07 am by Joe Moore under Masters Of The Universe Toy News

Mattel has posted up a Game of Thrones inspired Masters of the Universe poster. It states that “All Toy Lines Must End” with a date of 6/27/2014 on it stating “Masters of the Universe Classics: The Final Year“. Looks like the next, and possibly last, Club Eternia subscription will be announced that day.

Read on to check it out.

Well it appears that the MOTU Line is done either 2014 December or 2015 December

It means 2015 is the last year as the picture marks the 2015 Club Eternia sign-up start date.

This poster needs to be properly explained. They have said before that 2015 will be the end of the line in regards to making every figure that there was in the classic MOTU line. But does this mean they are not going to continue with anything after 2015?? I had understood that they were still going to have MOTU in 2016 and forward but it would most likely not be in subscription form.

I see nothing on there stating the line is ending.

What I do know is that they are finishing up the vintage MOTU characters next year.

Toyguru announced that 2015 will be the last year that the "classics" line will run, though it's possible that the line may continue on in 2016 with a rebranded name.

I don't know, seems pretty straight-forward to me. Mattel already announced that 2015 would be the last year for MOTUC. They said they would show the rest of the 2014 sub figures and the first quarter of the 2015 sub at SDCC. Also, the last day of SDCC 2014 is June 27th.

HOnestly, MOTUC has run its course. Once they finish off the vintage characters there really is no more reason to have a CLassics line. Besides, the line will have gone for 7 years once all is said and done.

Actually LIMITING the number of subscriptions? That's...bizarre.

I'm sorry and I know I might get an infraction but, Are the people at Mattel Stupid???? I mean Limiting the Sub numbers is going to chase people away not bring them in... "Hi we're going to offer this but once we hit an Unknown number that's it. and If you don't get one Tough Sugar." I may not be a smart man but this is going to go the way the Civil War went for the South great at first then Horrific at the end. Also there will be no "Cherry Picking" in 2015....

So by limiting the subscriptions that means they only gonna produce based upon paid subscriptions. no shelfwarming in that plan there...the ringer is to get you to rush in and sign up so you don't miss out...but will these be new molds or reused molds with slight differences....
not sure I am with that but there are some people who will buy into this so they don't feel left out....

Is it odd that Mattel won't be at NYCC this year? I'm not too familiar with the con, so I'm not sure how often they've been there. Kinda sucks, cause that means no real Mattel news between SDCC and Toy Fair.

It's a marketing technique. By being vague about the number of "limited" subscriptions, rather than commiting to any real number, they'll drive up interest and sell more subs. At least that's what they hope to do. It's MOTU, and the "last" year, so it'll work.

It's kinda like their percentage of subscriptions sold thermometers. Absolute BS.

Hold up, the subscriptions are going to be limited in number, but they are starting them a month BEFORE SDCC?

I guess they figure with it being the end of the year, only the dedicated fans are going to care anyway since they are going to complete their collection regardless.

Still though, to tell people they can only subscribe, but subscription are limited is just... retarded. I'm so glad I quit this line last year and sold everything off.

  18. CMIII's Avatar CMIII says

    06-24-2014, 09:16 AM

Why would they allow "Cherry Picking" If they only need to produce X number of Figures???? What all this means is if they need 500 Subs and they get 500 subs they may only produce 600. 500 to ship as part of the club and 100 Customer Service. The Extra Hundred will not be posted as Day of Items so If you want any 2015 figure you will have no options but to sign up... Bye.. Bye MOTUC Club this move is going to Kill the Line

That's probably what Mattel is counting on, and they probably don't want to have any leftover stock in 2015.

Not if you treat it like a sales pitch to help ensure that their quota gets met on or before 8/18. For some fans, it's all a moot point and they were getting the sub regardless.

For more causal fans, this might be the year to get a sub, since EOL figures are typically harder to come by as time goes on.

You can "cherry-pick" subscription figures without buying them directly from Mattel. So I wouldn't say that people won't be doing it in 2015, just that it might be more difficult and/or expensive than in the past.

That's hilarious, considering MOTUC is done after 2015 anyway.

doesn't matter prices at 25 and up on Matty right now anyways...freakin Doomsday is $35....so I can see them setting the subscription service to take care of the worry wart completionists

I do not understand the mentality at Mattel. If it's going to make money don't do it, Scare off Customers, then make threats, Follow it up with Stupid moves. You know I wonder what the Harold Matson, Ruth and Elliott Handler would say if they saw the way Mattel was doing things.

That 35$ for Doomsday is not that bad.. The 30$ for Mr. Myx now that's a Joke
