Filmation Hordak and Prison Suit Doomsday SDCC Exclusives

Posted on May 1, 2014 at 10:26 am by Joe Moore under DC Toy News, Masters Of The Universe Toy News, San Diego Comic Con

MattyCollector has revealed their first two San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Exclusives. They are releasing a MOTUC She-Ra: Princess of Power – Filmation Hordak as well as a DC Unuverse Classics Prison Suit Doomsday. They promise more reveals as the weeks go on, starting with two more reveals next week.

Check out the full info and the first photos after the jump.

Masters of the Universe® Classics Hordak® with Imp

Celebrate the 30th anniversary of She-Ra® and Princess of Power® with the first-ever Filmation-style Hordak® figure! Inspired by his ‘80s animated appearance, complete with blue skin and interchangeable cannon/”human” arms, this figure includes a snap-on claw hand for his cannon arm and a Horde magic staff. Joining Hordak® is his sarcastic sidekick from the series, Imp, in his first appearance as a Classics figure.

Added Bonus Only at SDCC! When you purchase this Hordak® figure at the show or pre-order the figure to be picked up at the show, you also get a bonus “Imp as a Treasure Chest” figure! Packed in a separate poly bag (not on the blister card with Hordak® and Imp above), this special item is available only at SDCC and will not be included with the Hordak® with Imp figure sold at MattyCollector.com after the show. First come, first served. (Can’t see him? That scamp! He’s around here somewhere…)

This item will be available for pre-order at MattyCollector.com on June 24, 2014, to be picked up at San Diego Comic-Con and sold at the show. It will also be available at MattyCollector.com on August 5, 2014, without the bonus “Imp as a Treasure Chest” figure.

DCU Classics Doomsday

One of the most demanded figures in the DCU Classics Signature Series finally arrives! This massive maniac had the ultimate face-off with Superman™ in the best-selling issue #75, and now, in his first-ever appearance as “prison suit” Doomsday, he joins our DC Universe Classics line. Standing at over 9” tall with 16 points of articulation (16!), the Kryptonian killer arrives in his prisoner suit. (How in the world did he fit all of his spikes and bones inside that suit? Some mysteries may never be solved.) Doomsday comes in a custom window box that pays homage to the cover of DC Comics Superman: The Man of Steel #18 (November, 1992), the issue where he made his first full appearance.

See Them at Comic Bug’s Free Comic Book Day Event 5/3

This product will be available for pre-order at MattyCollector.com on June 24, 2014, to be picked up at San Diego Comic-Con. It will also be available for purchase at the show, then at MattyCollector.com on August 5, 2014.

If you’re in Southern California, come to The Comic Bug store at 1807 Manhattan Beach Blvd. in Manhattan Beach, California Saturday, May 3, and get a up-close look at Hordak®, Imp, and Doomsday. Not only that, but Comic Bug is giving away thousands of comic books during their annual event that features a ridiculous roster of popular writers and artists doing in-store sketches and signings. For more info on Comic Bug’s event, click here.

Not in Southern California? No worries, because Free Comic Book Day events are held at comic stores nationwide. Just click here for all the details on Free Comic Book Day.

Okay, Back to All the Ways We Love SDCC…

On Tuesday, May 6th, be right here when we divulge one more SDCC item, then on Tuesday, May 13th, we’ll have five more SDCC items! Not enough, you say? We usually save a reveal or two for when it gets closer to SDCC, and this year is no different. We’ve got seriously cool stuff planned and we don’t want you to miss any of it so sign up for email or join us on Facebook, Twitter and in our Fan Forums.

That Doomsady has almost the exact amount of new tooling that the Unleashed would have had, so their tooling cost excuse is just plain BS.

Man I really want an unleashed doomsday... Don't really care about a prison suit one. If hasbro can release an ultimate green goblin why can't mattel release a decent doomsday. Mattel just posted an $11 million loss, maybe bad decisions are the cause. Listen to the fans, it's good for business.

Hasbro's 6" Marvel toys still make money at retail, and Ultimate GG was a BAF for a retail toy line.

    Or was that rhetorical?

While it may have been the same amount of tooling, this is a SDCC exclusive and probably has a price to match that would also cover the costs of tools all on its own.

Having said that, I think he looks really silly; like Mr. Freeze and Omega Red had a baby together.

EDIT: Filmation Hordak looks amazing, though, and Imp is a great accessory/companion for him.

I could complain about the badass batmobile being a con exclusive, but no, I won't. It's eighty-five friggin dollars, and I don't care how awesome the lights and sounds are, it ain't worth that much.

It if was for 6" or 6.75" figures, sure. Not for 3.75" ones. It's really easy to dislike Mattel these days.

No, the two are pretty similar though.

Whatever teams designed them were clearly working toward the same goal, combining the more traditional batmobile designs with the Tumbler from Nolan's trilogy.

I'm not a vehicle collector, so what absolutely kills me about the Batmobile set is that it's just an Arkham City Batman with a cloth cape, and not an actual Arkham Knight Bats. I can make a cloth cape AC Batman myself.

Paint does look good on Hordak, but I don't collect MOTUC so it would make no sense.

Total Justice, cool, not my thing.

Doomsday, no way. That horse has been beaten enough.

The Batmobile 3.75 - I really like it. That figure, pretty much awful, with or without a cloth cape. I'd just want the car to have a 3.75 inch Batmobile available for a future hopefully good Batman. But 85 bucks, woofa.

I'll have to play it by ear, if there are any left, and no lines when I'm passing by, might grab.

An actual Arkham Knight batman would go a long way towards making that thing worth $85. I mean, yeah, he starts the game in this AC suit... but a little more effort would still be appreciated.

Let's hope they re-release this thing without the electronics for a better price at retail.

even with an AK Bats this thing is not $85 bucks worthy.
the Knight rider Kitt car and the 6 inch figure fitting Batmobile from the 60's are less than this thing. With that being said at present a more reasonable price mark is $60-70 bucks tops

At the least they could have used the armored version with a cloth cape.
That somewhat matches the Knight suit.

I call that Doomsday the Despicable Me oversized Green Minion. It's Sad that producing the Unleashed version would have sold out no matter what but Mattel "Cannot see the forest for the trees."

Honestly only 7% of that 11 million dollar loss (roughly 770,000 dollar just over 3/4 of a million dollars) how much of that is the DC stuff we probably will never know. The Remainder was Girls line and Preschool line. What is clear is that 1/2 of the 11 million went to Hasbro that's 5.5 million dollars.

That Doomsday figure looks like it's straight out of an old Rob Liefeld 90's Image Comic. Something really goofy like Superpatriot. Or something from The Tick.

Because the fans didn't pay for the 6" subscription so it didn't go through and now we're gonna have to pay out the *** for anything DC-related and blah blah blah... because reasons.

    Just kidding. Mostly.

In all seriousness though, Mattel reps do seem to bring that up as often as they can even if it's irrelevant to whatever is being talked about.

No, I meant is the SDCC one for 6inch figures? If so, that is a great price. If not, then **** that and that is way too expensive for a four inch toy.

On Mattel's DC front everything they are offering is way overpriced. Granted the would have been club figures are only 1$ more. I expect Doomsday to be between 35 and 45 dollars. The total heroes stuff simply isnt worth dropping more then 15$. I do not see anything from Mattel for SDCC thats all that wonderful if anything it's all kinda Lackluster

    *Sigh*

C'est la vie, I guess. Definitely not getting anything SDCC this year, regardless of who makes it.
