A few months ago, we shared news of a new futuristic 1/18 scale military line called Acid Rain from Oritoy. It features 3.75″ figures and transforming vehicles in the vein of companies like 3A. At the Thailand Toy Expo, Oritoy had a great display showing off the progress of the Acid Rain figures and mechs. The images come courtesy of Tag Hobby.

Acid Rain - New 3.75 Inch Figure and Transforming Vehicle Line
These are pretty cool. I would have loved these as a kid. They look 3D-printer-ish....I wonder if they are made using the tech.
That articulation is fantastic! I'm drooling...
I like the concept, I like the models, it looks to be pretty neat, but I can't get over that price. I know the economics of making a toyline when you're a tiny company doing a very small run of a design that's doing premium paint jobs on top of that, but it's just too much for a novelty niche for me.
It dawned on me that my 3d printer comment could be misconstrued. I meant that in regard to the unpainted soldiers. Additionally, I have seen some really impressive things done with 3d printers. My comment was meant as a compliment and a nod toward tech that has the potential to reduce development costs.
This line would be awesome if it looked more like the old Robotech models. But as it is now I think it looks terrible.
