I've been anticipating that jumbo Xenomorph for quite a while, but talk about sticker shock. I'd rather put that $400-$500 towards an authentic one. :/

if you're going to make OLD SCHOOL Figures of Yesteryear-- make them in YesterYear PRICES!!!
I was browsing BBTS the other day & saw the Alien. I clicked on it & thought the price was a typo.
This all happened because of the stupid ebay bidders that pushed the prices up way too high. The toy companies saw that. They're watching! Ebay showed them what kind of people toy collectors are & now they're jacking the prices up accordingly. It's just common sense & logic. Why charge $20 when there are so many dumbasses that will gladly fork over $400?
All anybody in this hobby cares about is jacking the prices up. This hobby was never about the toys, it was always about money. Everything humans do is always about money! All collectors care about is the value of their collection so they can make a fortune on ebay in the future. All scalpers care about is jacking the prices up as high as they can as soon as possible. And all the toy companies care about is maximum profit for minimum quality. Makes you wonder if there's anybody that actually cares about the toys.
For the past few days I've been looking for female robot figures. I've been looking through all the Figuarts, Revoltech, Figma, Play Arts Kai & Chogokin figures. Most of the prices are absolutely sick & twisted.
And look what happened to the 12" market. I was right there in the middle of it. I was collecting Cy-Girls before anybody even knew what they were. Back then they were only $14.99-$19.99. Then more & more people started jumping onboard. The prices started to shoot through the ceiling on ebay. Sideshow took notice & moved in. Then Hot Toys showed up. I saw the future & got the hell out of 1/6 figures. Back then the normal price for 12" figures was $20. Now just a few years later the norm is $200-$500. That's not "inflation". That's not "bad economy". That's nothing but 100% pure greed! Toy collectors did this to themselves.
HAPPY BIDDING!!!
i'm not one to defend any of these companies..
but it's not just ebay that's driving prices up.. that's a really naive theory.
the price of most things are going up.. materials are costing more, transportation costs more.. people aren't able to buy as much stuff which means companies are making less money which means they need to simplify things to make stuff affordable.
hell.. gas was like two dollars less 10 or so years ago.
that being said.
it's really annoying that they're simplifying everything, yet prices remain just about the same. it's incredible.
hasbro has said that they're simplifying transformations and what not for kids for the new transformers movie line.. i think that's bullshit.. they just want to make a larger profit.. fewer joints, fewer screws, fewer pegs, fewer pins, less paint and less design time + equal prices as toys that were made with those things = a much bigger profit margin.
honestly.. i hope it blows up in their faces and this crap sits on the shelves forever (man of steel and iron man 3 line anyone?).. but something tells me, if that happens, we're the ones who are going to suffer.
there's nothing we can do.. we have no stake in these companies.. and they clearly only care about the bottom line. it's a shame they can't care about the bottom line AND have collectors in mind as well.
oh well. .. i guess we'll see what happens.
at least i know that hot toys and neca won't be going anywhere any time soon.
