The Walking Dead Minimates Series 4 brings us a bunch of characters from near the end of the prison story arc. With the inclusion of an early Woodbury Governor, the set gives those who missed out on the Riot Gear Governor (a Toys “R” Us exclusive for this wave) another shot at the character. We also get a Lori with baby Judith, allowing fans to replay their tragic end (sans Lily). Also included are a couple of the Governor’s henchmen in Gabe and Bruce, a (sure to be) fan favorite Hooded Michonne, as well as former Woodbury doctor, Alice. This wave also gives us two Shoulder Zombies, allowing for quick and easy walker horde building.
Any wave that gives two huge fan favorite characters is sure to be a hit. Especially when those fan favorites include some great “character” accessories. Michonne features a removable hood, giving you two distinct looks to display the figure. The Governor includes an alternate head; One regular and one with an eye patch. It’s these little details that help make the Minimates really worth tracking down. Alice features alternate arms, as her lab coat is removable, while Lori has a swap out hand to allow her to carry baby Judith around. Each set contains some weapons as well.
As with all Minimates, these feature fantastic articulation. The included figure stands will allow you to put the figure is just about any action pose you can think of. The painted pieces are clean and detailed. The faces bear some incredible details. Each character features a great likeness to their comic counterpart. This is especially true of both Michonne and The Governor. If you have one of the previous Michonne releases, she may be an easy pass for some. But the inclusion of the removable hood makes it a more worthwhile pickup. And with a series featuring the undead, you can never go wrong with new Walkers. In the end, this set has a good mix of major and minor characters. Hardcore fans of the series get to flesh out their different groups, while more casual fans get a few main characters from a major arc from the story. Even those that aren’t into Minimates may find it hard to pass up the great version of The Governor and Michonne.
