DC Collectibles New 52 Deathstroke Gallery

Posted on December 15, 2013 at 1:41 pm by Tony_Bacala under DC Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

DC Collectibles has been releasing New 52 versions of their core characters since soon after the relaunch in 2012. We’ve seen the Justice League and more released – now they’re in full swing with the villains to coincide with their Forever Evil arc spanning all the titles. We’ve seen Black Manta, the Joker and others in New 52 style and next up is Deathstroke. We’ve done up a high resolution gallery of New 52 Deathstroke, check out the pics and some thoughts after the break!

DC Collectibles New 52 Deathstroke is a beast of a figure. He sports a dead on comic accurate sculpt and paint job thanks to Jean St. Jean. Articulation has improved slightly over previous New 52 releases, giving him thigh swivels, forearm swivels and some ankle flex. This makes posing him a lot easier than before as most New 52 releases are limited to a power stance with token arm and leg movement.

Of note with the ankle flex – it’s a bit loose. If you don’t have him balanced perfectly, which is most of the time due to only having forward/back hip movement, his angle joints easily move forward due to the top heavy nature. So again even with the new articulation we are still limited to a slightly (now more) poseable statue. That’s OK with me personally, as these guys are just rocking the shelves in the power stance already. The DCC Arkham Origins figures seem to have gone full on with articulation and poseability, we hope that continues and makes it’s way back to New 52 later.

The paint is well done, going with a mix of matte and satin sheen, his new outfit really pops withe the colors. Application was well done, no sloppy misses.

He comes with his trusty sword, knife, and sidearm, all able to be holstered on figure.

Overall – great figure. The Arkham Origins one (due out next year) looks great as well and has more articulation, but I prefer this look a bit more. Check it out for yourself below, over 35 shots of him in action await!

I haven't run into the new Deathstroke in the books I read yet, but the couple I've browsed through he looks bad ass.

RE: Retail - yeah, he's officially out. Any place that carries Diamond Comics stuff (aka local comic shop) and online retailers should have them. I got mine from BBTS last week.

Looks like a really cool figure. I'll have to try and stop by the one comic book shop we have around here to see if they have him. Might become my first DCD/DCC figure. Though if I get him, I'll have to track down a GA too... That's actually the reason I don't have any plans to get the Arkham Origins figure, no GA equivalent. Which probably sounds kinda stupid...

It looks great, but it seems tough to get a good pose out of him with limited articulation. I can see why they did it, though: both the AO Deathstroke as well as the one from the Arrow two-pack seem to have great articulation, so I can't fault them for this one.

Nice, that's a great read. Unfortunately things go downhill considerably once Liefeld takes over writing and art in vol. 2, so much so that it was canceled afterward. It still hurts...

You watch Arrow, right? If so, that's not stupid at all. I don't think Deathstroke was ever really considered a Green Arrow villain until Arrow came along, but now it's tough not to associate him with GA. I love how much attention DS is getting since the show started.

I do, and I'm absolutely loving it. I did start getting into the comics beforehand, but got behind and haven't had a chance to get caught up. I know Deathstroke isn't traditionally a major villain for GA, but since Arrow has been a big part of me learning about the character, it's hard for me to not think of him as one of GA's main baddies. Sort of like Two-Face or the Joker to Batman.

I'm hoping to get caught up with the comics... or at least everything since the n52 started. I'll probably track down the trades rather than trying to get all the single issues I've missed. I don't no why, but I stopped after issue #5... so I'm a bit behind. I'm also looking into reading the Deathstroke comic.
