Review
The line of tiny Mordles is growing by leaps and bounds. With the addition of the Underworld and Sect of Rand Mordles, it brings the total to 8 sets of 10, for a total of 80 Mordles. Then you add in the oversized Imbalance of Blood Mordle and the new, single, Zintar Explorer Mordle, and that brings it up to 82 little figures. That’s quite impressive for a toy line that’s not even a full 6 months old yet.
The new Underworld Mordles come in black with some blue/teal highlights. This color scheme might be my favorite of all the Mordles. It gives them a much more sinister look. The color reminds me of the alien creatures from the excellent movie Attack the Block. The Sect of Rand Mordles come in a deep red color with the eyes and mouth painted black. Again, these colors evoke a more evil look as opposed to the yellow, pink, purple, green Mordles that came before. The addition of these darker looking characters really rounds out the collection, giving fans of Rocks and Bugs and Things more color choices than they ever had for their Mordles. Plus Toyfinity is introducing the Explorer Mordles, which will be available one at a time. These figures features a light brown body with green paint applications. The first one to be released is Zintar.
The biggest surprise from this wave is the oversized Imbalance of Blood Mordle. Coming in a soft vinyl, it’s very reminiscent of Funko’s Pop! Vinyl Figures. This Mordle comes in a deep red with white teeth and yellow eyes and toenails. The vinyl is a much more matte finish than the smaller Mordles. The sculpt looks to be based on the Zerak Mordle. The feet can swivel at the ankles, which gives a little bit of diversity in the way you can display it.
If you’ve read my previous reviews, you know I think the Mordles are great little figures. It’s rare that someone can actually resurrect a forgotten line of toys. It’s even rarer for it exceed the original release in terms of quality and quantity. I think they’re worth it for anyone who likes to collect mini figures. And these two new sets offer, what I think, is the best color schemes so far. Remember, these go on sale at Toyfinity Toys Thursday, November 21st at 9PM EST.
