Toyark sponsor HobbyLink Japan has announced a new partnership with Paypal.
To our customers,
For 17 years, we’ve directly accepted our customers’ credit cards for payment on our site, and I’m proud of the fact that we’ve never had any problems or incidents related to the security of our customers’ valuable card data.
Unfortunately, though, these days there are almost weekly reports of major hacking or fraud incidents that have exposed credit card data to unauthorized people at even some very major corporations.
For a small company like ourselves, this is quite scary, as we cannot afford to own and operate the sophisticated systems that make this sort of illicit access nearly impossible. But fortunately, there’s no reason for us to do so, as there are now better alternatives.
For that reason, beginning November 1st, HobbyLink Japan will switch to using PayPal to process all of its online payments. More than half of our customers already choose the convenience of PayPal when shopping with us, and if you’re one of these customers, there will be almost no change in how you pay for your orders.
If you’ve previously been using a credit card to pay for your orders with us, you can continue to do so, but your card payment will now be processed by PayPal; we here at HLJ will never see or handle your sensitive data. And once we’ve confirmed that this new system is working smoothly, your previous data which we held will be permanently destroyed.
This change won’t require you to set up a PayPal account if you don’t care to. But we think you’ll find that storing your online payment information in one safe, secure central location to be a much more convenient way to shop at HLJ or at any online store that accepts PayPal.
You can use any major credit card with PayPal, including some that were not usable with us directly, such as Discover. Also, customers in America can avail themselves to PayPal’s “Bill Me Later” feature.
Our new checkout screens are self-explanatory, we think, but we’ve also created a page on our site for customers interested in learning more. For that page, please click HERE.

We’re convinced that this change will mean better security and convenience for all of our customers, and we hope you agree!
And as always, thanks so much for your faithful support of HLJ!
