MattyCollector Club Infinite Earth Refunds Being Issued

Posted on August 27, 2013 at 9:42 am by Joe Moore under DC Toy News

MattyCollector is issuing the refunds now for the Club Infinite Earths cancellations. The message coming to those who subscribed is a bit odd. Forum member CMIII sent along the initial info word and, along with other forum members, assures us this is just the cancellation and refund notice. Here’s what people are getting:

“Urgent! Your Subscription Needs Attention”

There is nothing wrong with your card just the method in which Digital River is handling this yet again (Completely Ass Backwards)

I don't see the big deal. It seems pretty kosher to me, and is just a cookiecutter letter. It's not the right kind of letter, but probably connected to the method they used to cancel your orders. Like Tib said, we get our money back.
I see no crime or foul here.

I think you need to take a break, chill out, and calm down.

This is not about the Sub this is because a Company chooses to send a message that makes it sound like your Credit Card is the Problem again passing the buck, onto the Consumer, I am trying to save people the headache of Calling their Bank or Credit Card company to find out nothing is wrong.

Jetty if you want to spend an Hour on the phone with your credit card company go for it but I hate on being on the phone hearing "For english press 1, Para espanole press 2. For a new card press 1"

You mean they can't even take the time to write a thank you email for supporting the line but it is canceled? Talk about being fucking lazy retards! I am so glad to be done with their bullshit after this year because that is just down right lazy.

^ Kinda of crazy, huh? You'd think that a simple email wouldn't be that difficult. Even when the Ghostbusters line was canceled they sent out "thank you" Slimers to those that subbed. But then there was a whole debacle with that as well.

So I'll occasionally gaze over the Matty forums to see what conversations are going on over there since I got banned from there and it has been interesting. IN their questions forum, people are asking about various things and Scott just keeps pasting the same answer about the line reaching 63%. In the mean time, someone asked if they would do a free gift like the Ghostbusters sub (I think the person even asked if it could be Nekron's scythe) and the question was ignored.

  12. CMIII's Avatar CMIII says

    08-27-2013, 08:24 AM

I've been doing the Same Kain. I think he has no Idea what to do and never planned of the Failure of the Sub. Most people who use common sense "IF something happens well do this, IF something doesn't well do that." You would think that in the planning phases of the Subscription that someone be it at DC/WB/Sony or Mattel would have suggested the possibility of the sub not going through at some point. The funny part is the questions that have nothing to do with the sub he goes on about the 63% that why I think he's not able to handle the DC Line.

he answered the question with the biggest asshole answer I have ever seen "You knew what had to happen and you didn't do it so we wont give you a thing"

Better yet go to the other board and check out what they say about how we will learn to appreciate the Total Heroes line (new 6 inch line). Now Mattels going to force us to Like them, good luck, you couldn't force people to buy the sub what makes you think your going to force us to want these figures that's laughable

Are you 12? The email is not hard to understand. They're not "passing the buck" or blaiming someone else, or intentionally making it look as if someone else is to blaim.
It's standard email saying that their charge on the card was cancelled.
I would not spend an hour on the phone because I am not an idiot.

Get over yourself. This was my favorite toyline too, but the fits you've been throwing have been something I'd expect from a young child.

well people have.. The Email I received made it sound like something was wrong with my card that it was not on their end.. The Email should have said something to the effect that the Subscription line has been cancelled.. Not this "We are unable to complete your order due to an authorization failure from your bank when attempting to charge the credit card used to place your order. For this reason, your order has been cancelled."

So in other words Bad Moon understood it perfectly and only called his bank or Digital River for kicks...

I got four copies of that e-mail and re-added my card because I thought it was Digital Retard having problems pre-authorizing the charge for Huntress.

  16. trebleshot's Avatar trebleshot says

Digital River should have written a new form letter/auto-text tailored for this instance instead of re-using a largely inappropriate auto-text response. Especially when it is easily misunderstood if not read carefully.

I think this would have been much more accurate and would have only taken them a few minutes (my changes in red):

    "Subscription Status Update"

    Text body:
    "Dear XXXXXXXXX,

Unfortunately, we were unable to reach our goal for the Club Infinite Earths subscription. For this reason, your order has been cancelled. A refund is being issued to the credit card that you supplied when you placed the order and should appear on your statement within 14 business days. Thank you for your support.

I don't think DC, WB and Sony were involved in the process enough to suggest anything like that. And I honestly doubt that DC even cared what happened to the DCUC line as long as they got their allotted share of the profits from the licensing agreement.

You have a great point there Treble. I really think someone dropped the Ball here and it shows. While I think DC should have shown interest in the line they wouldn't because of their own line

They charge your account a small fee to make sure your card works. Then when the sub goes/went through, they would charge the rest of the $35.

That was my understanding of the TOS.

Oh, thanks! So am I correct in assuming that the rest of the refund will follow?

It seems like they are refunding in small portions. MY email just said I am getting a refund of $12 and then another email was for $23.

  22. Crazy Jetty's Avatar Crazy Jetty says

    09-01-2013, 05:04 PM

That's really odd. I got four emails all saying the exact same amount ($7 and change). Since I got EIGHT subscription cancellation notices, I asusmed that it was just the same bug/issue, generating multiple emails again.

However, just adding it all up on my calculator it does come to $35. As does yours.

Oh well... it all works out. Inefficient as it may seem, as long as it works for them, and we get out money back...

    @Kshatri,
I guess I was wrong about them not charging the full amount until they passed the sub.
If you don't get anymore notices, I'd take a look at your bank/card account in a few days and find out how much you got refunded.

I looked at my online credit card statement. It says DRI*Mattycollector (DRI being Digital River Inc.) charged me $37.63 on the 20th. (I subbed early on the 20th, before they had turned it off).

I got 4 refund emails; $7.91, $7.92, $7.92, and $13.87. Captain Math says. . .THEY STILL OWE ME A PENNY!!!!
