SDCC 2013 – Mattel DC Comics Post Panel Friday Update

Posted on July 19, 2013 at 7:55 pm by Joe Moore under DC Toy News, San Diego Comic Con, Video Game Toy News

We live blogged the panel and now our team is standing by as Mattel slowly but surely unboxes and sets up the figures. Read on to see a few pics and be sure to refresh every few minutes as new ones are added. Ozymandias from The Watchmen is on display. The big reveal are hand-painted samples of the upcoming 2014 DC Comics Multiverse Toyline. Mattel is finally making fully articulated 4″ DC Comics figures! More info:

  • 4″ scale
  • 18 points of articulation
  • On shelves Spring 2014
  • 3 waves, 18 figures

The 1st wave will feature figures from Arkham City & Arkham Origins. Meanwhile wave 2 will focus on movies, including the 1st Michael Keaton Batman figure by Mattel! Figures on display here for the 1st time include:

  • Arkham City Batman
  • Arkham City Azrael
  • Arkham City Armored Edition Batman
  • Arkham Origins Mr. Freeze
  • Arkham Origins Deadshot
  • Arkham Origins Bane

Something we should point out, is that these are a far cry from the DC Infinite Heroes 3.75″ figures from 2008.  Another world premiere here is of the DC Comics Total Heroes toyline. More info:

  • 6″ scale
  • New form factor developed in collaboration with the 4 Horsemen
  • 14 Points of articulation
  • On shelves Spring 2014
  • 10 figures available through 2014

These figures feature animated styling. Articulation looks consistent, it is different from DCUC but most points of articulation are actually retained or incorporated in different ways. They definitely look different from previous Mattel DC 6″ figures and the S3 Young Justice line. Nonetheless, if you like animated styled figures in 6″ scale, these might appeal to you. Total Heroes figures on display include:

  • Batman
  • Aquaman
  • Superman
  • The Flash
  • Green Lantern
  • Sinestro

Read on to check out the images!

Ras'al Ghul coming this year means I don't have to get a sub next year, YES!!!!!!

Anyway, I'm not too thrilled with next year's line up. Ice is the only one I care about. As for Doomsday, I'd only want Tier 2 version, not Tier 1.

Dont Ruin it for the rest of us and pay your dues! We need Tier 2!!

Hopefully with no Watchmen set, more people would be willing to sub for this Tier 2 Beauty.

yay Dr. Kain will stop harping on Ra's Al Ghul (probably will look like crap anyway). Batzaro, Aquaman, Con El really?

Con-El is in my top 5 wants, which is spearheaded by Batwoman. I want Batwoman.

    Looks awesome to me:

Anyway, sorry, but I am not willing to suffer another year of Digital River, especially when only half of the figures they showed I want (Ice Doomsday T2). If they showed us the first 5 figures again, and the next two were something I must have, then I might, but no, just no. I'll take my chances with BBTS or my local comic shop.

BTW, so glad I dropped MOTUC. Horde Troopers are FIlmation but Plundar is regular? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Batzarro is the only one I dont understand. The Aquaman, I can understand somewhat. Its a major design for him. but the Batzarro to me reminds me of Batman Legacy line. He should be in Retail next to Planet X Batman. I can think of many characters who could fit that spot better.

I might get a second subscription just to help the brand, show some brand loyalty, and make some money off of Dr Cain and others

    Calling it now:

Matty QC will mix up the Two Bad parts so that purples is with blue and vice versa

And Modulok will be missing pieces

However, I may have to pick up the Evil Rabbit for my Easter Bunny diorama

Ice is exactly what I wanted 90's JL, Now I want a 90's Guy Gardner in his blue jacket with Sinestro ring and a Bloodwynd figure, so I can have them all getting their butts kicked buy Doomsday. I would even be ok with a Max Lord figure and a Fire that is transparent Green. And even not being an Ocean Master fan I gotta say he looks good, and That 90's armless Aquaman is one of my favorite eras, when he stopped being a joke and was kicking ass, but they ruined that and went to that blue swirly outfit that already has a figure.

Also where is my Granny Goodness?????

Why are there no good pictures of Ras' face on this site? You got his sword, his pants, but not his upper body.

I am thinking that both Doomsday looks like a Kilowag BAF body for a base, anyone else think this is correct??? That is the size I wanted him to be but no pics of him next to anyone to compare.

All of the MOTUC reveals are wonderful (as they are every year). Still the best action figure line going. The induction a characters like Plundor and Nepthu solidifies and confirms it's wealth of awesomeness.

I'd love to start a DCUC collection, but with only 5 figs right now, that's an uphill battle I don't want to fight.

Don't stay on the fence just go for it... We need this Doomsday I have the 6 inch and if I get the Oversized the 6 inch gets demoted.

Almost forgot to those of you who do not sign up (Dr Kain) do not complain about the figures that come out you chose not to join then you have nothing to complain about.
