Thanks to ToyArk.com board member tiger007 for posting up images of his custom King Leonidas. A new age has begun, an age of freedom. And all will know that 300 Spartans gave their last breath to defend it. The world will know that free men stood against a tyrant, that few stood against many, and before this battle was over, even a God-King can bleed.
Check out all the custom King Leonidas images after the jump.
Well was blown away by the film. Bought the NECA 12", made a couple of 4" Spartans too.
Then HOT TOYS did their Leonidas and a beauty it is BUT scary priced LOL
So what does a customiser do, improvise!
Went and got myself one of the ACI Gladiator figures.
Took my NECA Leonidas and dremelled the forearms and shins for the armour.
Stripped the belt/scabbard off the NECA figure. Also removed the helmet from the head so it can be held as a piece of armour.
Sculpted a Wolf's Tooth for the necklass and sculpted the "shield" cloak clasp.
With leather I made the Pants and also sandals (worth while process), along with the shoulder harness.
Found an old top which was close to the red of the cloak and made my own cloth cloak. Then battle worn and weathered it.
Repainted all the armour, weapons that came with the NECA Leonidas to make it look accurate and more battle worn.
So this cost a LOT less than a HOT TOYS but still as effective I think.
Nice job.
Looks awesome, and I agree the HOT TOYS version is amazing but scary over priced. My only suggestion would be to take some black paint, water it down and go over his chest and abs and arms for a wash effect to deepen the tone and highlights.
Thank You for the kind words and behindthemask, the wash advise.
Really one of my pride and joys.
