Hot Toys Robocop Update

Posted on June 1, 2013 at 11:32 am by Joe Moore under Robocop Toy News

We’ve seen the two Hot Toys MMS Diecast Robocop Figures as well as their ED-209 already. Now, Hot Toys has revealed an update for their Robocop figure. Well, not so much an update as an announcement of another figure. An unhelemeted head for Robocop was clearly absent in the reveals this week. So, due to fan demand, they have shown photo of in-progress sculpts of an unhelmeted Robocop head. According to the post, it will be for an, as yet unannounced, third Hot Toys Robocop figure. Details direct from Hot Toys:

Thank you for many fans’ support when we introduced our latest RoboCop collectibles. We heard that you guys would love to see Alex Murphy as the unhelmeted RoboCop, so we got a good news for you all! Our Production Director & Chief Painter J.C. Hong has just shared photos of the work already in progress for the head sculpt on his blog (http://tiger231.blog.me/80191133866), so please stay tuned to see how it will look like in another version of RoboCop soon!

A die-cast Hot Toys Robocop? Hmm how does one declare bankruptcy?

Oh hell yes. Pictures! Finally! I can't wait. I missed out the first time around and it won't happen again. ED and Murphy are comin' home!

Very tempting, but $300 is hard to pay for him. My only complaint is that he doesn't have a removable helmet to show Murphy's full face. I'm guessing they couldn't secure the likeness rights from Peter Weller for this? Same reason NECA can't do a 6" scale Robo with removable helmet.

If he had a removable helmet with the fully revealed face, I'd probably order it. But alas, I'm going to have to think about this one for awhile before I decide if it's worth the $300.

    Are we sure it's $300?

If so I am pumped. I 'm definitely getting a diecast Robo with chair at that price!

I agree a fully exposed face and baby food jars would have made it even more perfect.

I think the chair version is about $100 or so more

Yes, it's $300. It's already up for preorder on Sideshow's site, along with the ED-209 and the chair.

Maybe the unmasked head will be for a Robocop 2 version that is in pieces after Cain tears him apart. Or perhaps a RC2 version that is the more blue and purple colors like he is in part 2. I never really realized how different Robo looked from part 1 to 2 until I watched them back to back. He is mostly Gunmetal Silver with slight bluish highlights in part 1, but more blue/steel with purple highlights in part 2.

I was thinking Robo with chair for only $300. Sigh. Why could'nt I have won that $550mil so I could start pre-ordering everything. Lol.

Though I might be the only person to appreciate it, a blue "John T. Cable" Robocop would be awesome. And yes, I know the Prime Directives movies sucked donkey ass.

True. Robocop 1 & 2 were two of the best sci-fi/superhero movies of all time. Working in a comic shop, I've had to explain that to so many a dumb youngster. Due to the times we live in and the endless list of terrible reality shows, younger people can't grasp the concept of satire. Sad really.

I'm betting the helmet less Robocop is of Robocop/Murphy at the end of the first film all beat to hell.

Looks real nice. I am surprised that there is no unmasked Murphy Head.

I decided to take the plunge on this figure. Just ordered the standard release (without the chair). This will be my first ever Hot Toys purchase. I may pick up one of the loose Alex Murphy heads floating around on ebay as well, or wait for the battle damaged one with the unmasked head as a ton of people like to part those out on ebay as well.

It was really pure timing and luck I was able to drop cash on this. Also, with Robocop, I figured it's a super contained release. There aren't a ton of 80's Robocop characters coming from Hot Toys. I get the version I like the best (clean version) and at most I'd maybe want the ED-209 to go with it. Though that would have to be one of those things where I trade a high end item for it or something.

Also hoping this ships out today so I can have it for a weekend photo shoot.

Just curious...where did you order your Robo? I ordered mine from Sideshow, and it had a defect. I made a return claim for it and it was accepted, however Sideshow claims that none are in stock and thus I have been waiting nearly two months for a replacement to come in. Meanwhile, they are holding contests for free Robos, and then I see that you're expecting one in the very near future, which has left me jaded and frustrated with with Sideshow's customer service.

I ordered mine from popculturezone.com. They were less expensive than just about anywhere else ($280). And with them being located in New Jersey, they're fairly close, which I liked.

Not sure what kind of comfort this will give you, but there has been a huge shipping dispute in California, and a lot of Sideshow's stock is just sitting on the dock, waiting to be delivered. THat is more than likely the reason why you haven't received it yet. Also, they keep a certain amount of figures designated for giveaways and contests that they can't use for other purposes.
