DST Enterprise-E And More On Excelsior

Posted on May 14, 2013 at 10:44 am by Joe Moore under Star Trek Toy News

Yesterday, we brought news on the upcoming Star Trek Excelsior coming from Diamond Select Toys. Now DST has sent along info about their previously announced Star Trek: First Contact Enterprise-E as well as their announcement of the Excelsior.

Star Trek’s Enterprise-E Makes ‘First Contact,’ and the Excelsior Joins the Fleet!‏

Diamond Select’s fleet of electronic Star Trek ships is undergoing a rapid expansion of late, and two new starships are preparing to join fans’ collections!

First up is a limited variation on the U.S.S. Enterprise E – the First Contact edition! With a new, detailed paint scheme based on Star Trek: First Contact, this new E is visually distinctive from the previous edition, which was based on its appearance in Star Trek: Nemesis. With the same great lights and sounds as the previous E, it will be a striking addition to any fan’s collection, and will be ready to ship this summer.

Then, coming this fall, the U.S.S. Excelsior, registry number NCC-2000, is finally joining DST’s electronic Starfleet! Measuring 16 inches long, the Excelsior features new sculpted parts to differentiate it from the Excelsior-class Enterprise B, while maintaining the same great light-up features! The sound files are all-new, as well, with plenty of great quotes from Captain Hikaru Sulu, using the actual voice of actor George Takei. Check out the video below to hear all of the great sounds, and pre-order both ships today!

It is, but the reasoning is still unknown. Supposedly it's because CBS doesn't want them to handle it. Though I honestly believe it's because DST doesn't want anything to do with nuTrek.

I too would love a DST Kelvin...or at least one the size of the large Playmates one's. Then again, I'd love to see the USS Titan get the same treatment...

Im pretty sure that Hasbro has the rights to all of the JJ trek.

Not entirely. Hallmark still does the ornaments (like the Kelvin coming out this year), Mattel is still doing Hot Wheels branded ships (the Kelvin, re-release of the Narada, and an Into Darkness ship), so I don't see any reason that Hasbro taking Playmates's old spot would keep DST from doing anything nuTrek related. That and Hasbro's licensing isn't specific to nuTrek product either. For example, the next two waves of blind-bagged Kreons is all Prime Universe stuff.

It could be true that they're being denied access to the nuTrek licensing, for whatever reason, but I still honestly think they aren't doing anything because they don't have any interest in producing anything from it. I'd love to be proven wrong, as I'd really, REALLY love to see what they could do with the nuTrek ship designs. Let alone the potential for action figures...like the one's they used to do, not these new Select things...
