Robot Damashii Gundam Heavyarms & Sandrock Option Parts

Posted on March 1, 2013 at 4:53 pm by Shin Densetsu under Gundam Toy News

Recently we showed you official images of Robot Damashii SIDE MS Gundam Heavyarms but you are probably thinking…”wait..somethings missing…”. Yes Tamashii pulled a Robot Damashii Leo on us, as the parts one thought ought to come with Heavyarms are instead going to be sold in an option parts set. This set also comes with parts for the Robot Damashii SIDE MS Gundam Sandrock. If you want to recreate the duel between Heavyarms(piloted by Heero), and Tallgeese, you need this set. This set comes via the Tamashii Webshop, no word at the moment if Bluefin Tamashii Nations USA will bring this over. Pre-orders go live on March 4th, with a scheduled release date of July 2013. Cost is 2,310 yen. Parts included are the following:

  • Heat Shotel blade(un-ignited) x 2
  • Beam saber x 1
  • Jetpack x 1
  • Single cannon x 1
  • Swappable skirt armor
  • Other Swappable parts

FINALLY! I've waited too long for him and deathscythe. They should have came out long before those army builders.

You folks should also get the Tallgeese I, damned thing's incredible.

Also, they announced a sandrock and heavyarms add on pack. IT's essentially a downgrade kit, and the beamsaber combo thing Heero had in the fight with Tallgeese.

I call BS on that, They should've just included them with the figures in the first place.

Sandrock already comes with everything you could possibly need to go with the suit except for the Maganac Corps. Would be funny if they tried to do something like that. The Leo option pack is annoying enough.

In due time. Bandai is pretty random about their Wing releases. I mean we get the Aries before this...

I used to have a huge MSIA collection and I loved those things but the Gundam Wing figures from that line are terrible.

I'm pretty sure the articulation on this one is way better, on par if not exceeding that of the EMSiA! figures.

I saw a scan of that and was hoping I was just seeing things....bad move on Bandai for that AND the Leo option parts. Ridiculous actually. Way to milk the molds and come off as money-hungry Bandai..

It's really just miniscule packpacks, weapons, and panel changes. Things you barely noticed in the anime. Some people were complaining about it NOT being the Kai versions that got shot into space. Truth be told, it wouldn't have been as bad if they'd included the beam on the regular heavyarms. Apparently they did this because releasing a version one mold wouldn't make any sense, as they're so similar.

Nah, it's an okay idea, seeing as they might be exclusive, if not, it's no big deal. I know I'd only want it for the beam saber parts. Although the Heavyarms comes with two dual machineguns.

Aside from being taller, better constructed, having more range of movement, more detail, and being all around better looking? Seriously, coming from a guy who sold all his MSIAs, get this guy. He's great, I own Tallgeese I and II, bith are massive improvements over the MSIA

Sorry for the double post. But I can't actually delete my posts.

Wow, that is lame. Is there a price listed for that "options" pack. The only thing I feel is must have is the single barrel for Heavyarms. I wouldn't pay more than $10 to get that pack. Why the heck would they have two double-barrel gun anyway? Only the EW version had that.

You're acting like this is the first time that Bandai has done this. They've been doing it for a while in all of their lines. It sucks, but that's just how they practice buisness.

No I'm not. This is different in a number ways but not surprising, just annoying. There are a few people that will want those extra panels and them making it available is a good thing. Including two double-barrel guns with the mobile suit and not one of each is what's confusing. It doesn't save them any money or help keep the price down, like on the Leo, but I assume they are hoping it will sell options packs.

Well I don't see why Bandai couldn't have included those parts with Sandrock and Heavyarms to begin with. Back in the day, even the MSiA! Heavyarms came with the swappable single cannon.

Dude it's going to be over $10, to be honest I think we'll be lucky if it's even $20. Maybe Bluefin will be able to bring it over like they did with 1 of the Leo option sets(and really, making an option set for that instead of just including the parts with the barebones leo was irritating too).

As far as only the EW version having dual cannons, I forgot but the MSiA! back in the day came with both single and dual cannons.

Knowing how Tamashii is I bet when they make the EW Heavyarms Custom the bad ass half mask it had in the anime will come in a separate option parts set with some minimalistic stuff no one will care about aside from the mask.

It makes sense when you think about it, in EW the gundams shown are supposed to be the gundams from the last episode of the series, just updated. So it's how Heavyarms TV would've looked had he been in EW.

The MSIA did come with a single barrel, but it was also the first version.

And as far as not releasing the option sets, they did that to keep the price down so you could army build them. Not exactly collector friendly if every leo costs 60+ to army build, right? I would've liked them to have a swivel head, but Leos are mostly supposed to have no neck. Only some models did, and even then it wasn't always there.

As far as if they release Heavyarms custom, relax, it'd probably come with the alt head. Look at Tallgeese, the damned thing came with two beam sabers, a gun, an extra prototype head, and an extra gun. They didn't need to include any of those things, but they did.

I know they'll want more than $10 for it but it isn't actually worth more than that, in my opinion. Problem with there being imports is that it makes it hard to connect with people if you wanted to find someone that would split the pack with you.

I get the logic that EW Heavyarms had two guns (and no knife or shield) but this version never did. EW presented the designs as if that was always how the Gundams had always looked, not an upgrade but an overwrite. Maybe I'm just one of the few that doesn't like EW designs and that's why it urks me. They were just so intensely 90's on steroids.

On a side note how inefficient would the Heavyarms be in real life? Dude would be out ammo after 5 minutes every battle, but they would be the coolest 5 minutes of the battle. It sometimes surprised me that it got as much screen time as it did.

Probably got more screentime since Trowa was the only seemingly normal pilot out of the main 5. Heero was an emotionless trained assassin, Duo was a happy go lucky deathbringer, Quattre was a pus and Wu Fei wanted war.

Suffice to say once I got into UC Gundam more afterwards, I realized that UC was a lot better. Some AC series are cool and Wing is overrated. I respect it for nostalgia and I was more into back in the day than now. IIRC one of the Ronin Warriors guys wrote the series so having 5 guys as main characters that also ended up appealing to female audiences was not surprising.
