Toy Fair 2013 Mattel 1966 Batman Figure Images

Posted on February 10, 2013 at 3:52 pm by Deefuzz under Toy Fair

Mattel also showed off their flavor of the 1966 Batman series of figures at Toy Fair and they are really making a go at it. Going so far as to include Batman with swim trunks and a surfboard. Packaging samples were on hand as well.

I hope NECA or Mattel eventually does a Batman Returns action figure. That's the only Batman toy I've ever wanted in my whole life. C'mon, 26 years is long enough.

The 4H are big fans so I think they will get to it eventually.

Same here! As campy as that show was, I enjoyed the reruns on FX back in 94 or so.

Hell yeah! Mattel has the rights to do it, what I heard might be the hold up is getting a likeness or Danny Devito. However they got some of the Ghostbusters cast to finally relent, hopefully they can get Devito to too.

I would want Returns Bats, Penguin, penguins with missle packs, Pffeifer Catwoman and the BATMISSLE BATMOBILE! Oh god if Mattel makes a 6" scale 89 or Returns Batmobile...

    TEARS. TEARS OF JOY...

    I'm pretty sure it does.

Why the hell not? I think it's hilarious yet awesome at the same time. More for the audacity to even make such a thing, and for that, Mattel gets props.

They may not ever answer a question about it in Q&A, but hell that figure makes me happy.

We get it. You don't like it.
No one's forcing you to buy it, and no one's forcing you to repeatedly come into this thread to bitch about it repeatedly. Between this and the one other thread about this line that was posted friday, you've made four or five posts just to come in and berate it.

Move on. I don't like Heman, but I don't pop into every single Heman thread and bitch about "Why are they making this s***???"
I don't like like Masked Rider, but I'm not popping into the figure arts thread to bitch about it.

You don't like it. Other people do. Deal with it and move on. No one makes you open threads about shit you hate.

    EDIT:
And since you obviously haven't figured it out, the show these toys are based on was pretty much intended to be a comedy. And even more so, these toys are intended to reflect the lighthearted silliness that was in the show. They're ment to make people smile. Doesn't do that for you? I'm sorry. But let those who are enjoying it enjoy it.

True. A lot of people are getting a kick out of these figures including myself. Hell I don't even like the Batmobile design much from the show but because Mattel is even making this for 6" figures, I want it. I respect it for nostalgia and for Mattel even having the balls to make it since they have not made a 6" scale Batmobile for years.

I personally really have no affection for the show, but this toyline is killing me! Adam West Batman with trunks and a surfboard? That is the best thing to come out of toyfair this year!
I want that more than anything I can think of!

I liked the show when I was younger and as I grew older, looked at it as corny as hell, BUT that was the intent. I am fond for it due to nostalgia, as I enjoyed it back in the day but I don't think it's a series I will ever buy on blu-ray, for example.

These toys however, are freaking awesome and WILL be bought.

People forget that this show and the Green Hornet were on Back to back in the late 60's. My father used to watch it when he was a Kid, the show was designed to be a Kids show these action figures probably should have been made in the 1960's as opposed to 2013. On top of all this the entire villain cast is dying (or has died) off David Wayne, Frank Gorshen, Burgess Meredith, Milton Berle, Victor Buono, Vincent Price, Cesar Romero, Anne Baxter, Carolyn Jones, Roddy McDowall, George Sanders, Otto Preminger, Cliff Robertson, and Ertha Kitt have all passed away.. I Really hope the do Yvonne Craig Batgirl as a series 2 she loved Batgirl so much she complained about the Killing Joke

Quite impressed with what I've seen so far, especially with Riddler and Penguin. If they announce a Cesar Romero Joker and Egghead Vincent Price, then I'm all-in.

I have faith in Mattel (at least regarding this line.) Sure, Robin could use some touch ups, and I'm none too excited that the Bat-mobile is going to be TRU exclusive (they must really like the 60's Bat-vehicles, having both the Bat-cycle and sidecar and the R/C Bat-mobile), but they seem to have a real passion for this line, as one would have to have to even consider making swim trunks Batman (which I will buy, 'cause it's awesome.) Plus, a building side playset ? With opening windows? That means you can stick the Breaking Bad figures in the back, and have them pop their heads out to sell Batman some meth!

Ok then Series 2 should do:
    Yvonne Craig Batgirl
    Vincent Price Egghead
    Ertha Kitt Catwoman
    Victor Buono King Tut
    Van Williams Green Hornet *
    Bruce Lee Kato *
Batgirls Motorcycle or the Cat Car

    * Cross Over and would be totally Sweet
