Marvel Universe and Marvel Legends at Toy Fair 2013

Marvel Universe and Marvel Legends at Toy Fair 2013

Here we have a few new figures and toylines revealed for 2013. For Marvel Universe fans, a new 3 pack with a modern Thor sans helmet will be released. In addition to Rhino, Abomination, Mysterio and Elektra, an all new 616 Captain America will be released. It’s been a long time coming, and in demand ever since Hasbro released the Steve Rogers Super Soldier figure in the line(which had more articulation than previous Captain America figures in the line).

We also have our 1st look at The Wolverine line. Hasbro has definitely turned the popular 4″ scale towards a younger demographic, as the 4″ line features the bare minimum of articulation. In other words, these will not fit with your X Men Origins Wolverine figures. On a brighter note, Hasbro has given collectors something to collect with the Marvel Legends Wolverine series.

Marvel Legends Wolverine

  • Sabretooth modern
  • Rogue modern
  • Phoenix 5 Cyclops
  • White Queen
  • Wolverine modern(Astonishing X-Men style but refined, more current)
The Build A Figure is none other than Puck! Click the headline to see the new figures.

    So far so good.

Cloak and Dagger are win. Instant bought.
Love the new Ironman. Will grab for my armory.
Abomb works to finally have rick jones in the collection.
Abomination is a skip for me.
Skurge and Valkyrie are pure win. Even that thor might replace mine. I love the modern look, but hate the helmet.
Elektra I'll get for completions sake.
    Mysterio is a maybe.

Can't wait to see what else they have in store for later. With Valkyrie coming, here's hoping for Antman and Moonknight finally and even the Flash Thompson Venom.

    Legends are looking pretty sweet.
Most are a pass for me, but the BAF hitmonkey is awesome. Phoenix 5 Cyclops is tempting too since he's a cosmic being. Hope they plan on doing the other 4 too. Red She-Hulk and Savage She-Hulk look amazing too. I might have to pick up a red she-hulk and P5 Cyclops.

None of these are new, right? We saw all these at SDCC last year I think.

Wolverine getting his own legends line is new(or at least new to me, though the molds and comments about them are deja vu). Though yeah, I think we saw the majority of these before.

I hope some of the smaller Wolverine figures will be worth getting. Silver Samurai looks great but I'm pretty sure he's made of Joe parts.

Finally, a half decent emma, and rogue looks cool to. Im excited about P5 Cyclops, and BAF Puck. The Sabretooth is the recent version right?

Cloak, Dagger, Abomination, A-Bomb, Iron Man (Gotg?), Skurge, Valkyrie, and all the figures from the new Avengers show have are new for 3.75" scale. We had heard rumors of the Aboms though but no announcements were made.

I don't think he is. The ninja is a straight up repaint of one from the new GI Joe movie, but Silver Samurai looks entirely new to me.

Ones in MU scale that I don't remember ever seeing before:
    Abomb andAbomination
    Silver Samurai (and ninja repaint)
    Skurge and Valkyrie
    Leader
    The new Falcon mold
    The new Hulk mold
and I remember hearing about Cloak and Dagger, but don't remember seeing them

    Regarding the Wolverine line:

    a) Pretty damn cool that we're getting something for that movie. I figured at the most it would be a couple 3.75" "All-Star" Wolverines but we're getting a nice comic-based Legends line, which I didn't expect at all.

    b) The 3.75" figures, while they seem to have the same articulation as the IM3 figures, at least look a lot better, plus there's more variety. In other words, rather than 5 Iron Man armors and that's all, we get Wolverine, a ninja, and Silver Samurai. It's definitely a step up in detail and variety.

Seeing that, then seeing the Thor figures, which look to have knee and elbow articulation, makes me wonder if this is just a low point for Hasbro with the USM and IM3 lines. Hopefully we see even more positive changes with next year's Cap 2, GotG, and ASM2 lines.

His hips look like Joe hips but again it's kind of hard to tell (at least for me).

*EDIT* Scratch that. After looking closer he's got a crappy t-crotch.

MU wise... Valkyrie pack for sure. She's going right into the Secret Avengers. Still want a classic Valkyrie for the Defenders.

    Abomination is a must get.

I am not digging that Captain America for some reason. Will keep the Invaders one in the Invaders and the TRU light up one in my Avengers Classic roster.

I think it's because his torso isn't chainmailed.

    that aside,

Cloak & Dagger, Elektra and Valkyrie coming up? pumped.

and on Legends front the Jeans look amazing, Ive waited for that Jim Lee forever, I will get Phoenix Cyclops, Rogue and Hawkeye

    Another MU note...

That Iron Man is AWESOME. It's actually James Rhodes armor. He wore it when Tony Stark had the Bleeding Edge tech removed from his body. Rhodes faked his death and was a "new" Iron Man. Pretty much right BEFORE Marvel Now! Really surprised it was made as a figure.

I'm relatively pleased with today's 3.75" announcements (MU & Avengers Assemble).

One question though, are Comic Packs cancelled? Nothing shown and there's nothing unreleased except for Ant-Man/Moon Knight. Maybe we'll get the Ant-Man pack and a surprise re-paint pack?

  20. Snowflakian's Avatar Snowflakian says

That Ironman Legends Ultron is interesting.
Uses the titanium man body, but the shoulders and head are still pretty sweet with them.

Gives him an interesting vibe. Might have to get him.

Awesome, can't wait to see these, but the only problem is distribution so far for the new stuff has been a pain. Have yet to see anything new at retail.

  22. Ebonyleopard's Avatar Ebonyleopard says

Marvel Universe would be awesome to collect....IF YOU COULD FRIGGIN FIND THEM!!!

The last new Marvel Universe series seen in Erie, PA was apparently the She-Hulk wave, which hit TRU ONCE! Someone claims to have bought the Beast wave, but again, apparently one case hit and that was it.

I'm almost giving up on bothering with Marvel Universe simply because you can't find them in an actual store and am getting tired of playing upped price from online retailers.

Hmm, I wonder how they'll release the 3 Jean figures.

Due to the new pics. It seems that Emma and Rogue will be a running change.

  24. Ebonyleopard's Avatar Ebonyleopard says

    02-09-2013, 08:39 PM

Articulated Rocket Raccoon. Let's rock. (Now here's hoping some sort of decent distribution will happen. Still haven't seen the variants of the darn Blade/Puniser line).

  25. Dr Kain's Avatar Dr Kain says

    02-09-2013, 08:39 PM

Oh look, more Iron Mans to clog the shelves.

How about releasing other characters like Mandarin, Pepper, etc?

As for the X-Men stuff, since when does Rogue wear Black Widow's outfit?
