Mattel Classic 1960s Batman TV series Toy Fair 2013

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 7:15 pm by DESTRO under Toy Fair

Mattel is releasing a line of 6-inch action figures ($15.99 each) this year based on the classic 1960s Batman’ TV series. And of course, Adam West’s Not-So-Dark Knight is one of the first one on the shelves in July. Adam West needs a ride put him in Mattel’s vintage Batmobile!

More Bat-Man images after the jump.

...I am going to have to get those.

I am by no means a fan of this era of Batman. But those are just waaaaay cooler than they have a right to be.

The Batmobile looks great, but wow. Westman takes the cake. I'm glad to see that they went for accuracy here, and didn't try and bulk him up at all. The cloth cape is a nice touch too. If not for myself, I may get one for my dad, who grew up watching the show. Hopefully the rest of the figures they do look this good. Most especially the Joker figure.

Wow..I wonder if these figures are sculpted in-house or by the 4H? They sure got West's gut sculpted right....these definitely look old-school...maybe too old-school(yes I like the show but I just think these sculpts could be better, I'm not expecting a diesel as hell Batman because West didn't seem that built, but wow..)

The batmobile is a definite buy! On the fence about the figures looking at the West. I'm curious to see how the Joker, Catwoman and Batgirl turn out.

I wonder if the Cesar Romero Joker will have a hint of mustache under his face paint?

I think what's throwing people on the batman, is because we're not used to seeing realistic proportions on a DCUC figure.
Even the slender "normal" figure size is still almost steroid buff.

I am going to buy all of these. Frank Gorshin Riddler is the best figure so far.

Well for me it's so much that, I mean I get why they are doing it and they got West's gut which I thought was surprisingly cool, but the sculpt just doesn't look as refined. This is one that would really look a lot better if more care was given to hide the pin joints, not get rid of them but cover them up. That way the solid/plain look of the show costume would be conveyed more.

    Why? Why do these exist?

They won't give me important characters that matter from the comics such as Talia, Ras, Scarface, Oracle, and Mad Hatter, but they have no problem shoving this garbage done my throat. Cute, real cute.

yeah we know Kain all these Obscure Batman figures that's all your after not to sound mean but I can accept that I am getting Phantom Stranger this month can't you accept that some characters probably won't be made..

I only want the Vehicle. I could care less to have at 20th Batman, 10th Joker, or 3rd Riddler. Lets see King Tut, 3 different Catwomen, Egghead (I think a figure of Ertha Kitt, Julie Numar, or Lee Mariwether, and Vincent Price{if his estate would allow it} would be huge Sellers)

Yes I remember all three Catwomen

Uh... what does Phantom Stranger have to do with Batman? In fact, I cannot wait to get PS, but they need to start getting the rest of the REAL Batman characters out before they go for this ****** *** toyline on a ****** *** show.

I am saying I DON'T WANT PHANTOM STRANGER. I don't care for the character, would have been happier with any other character getting the spot. I feel the way about Phantom Stranger you do about not getting some Batman beyond obscure character... But I am not going to complain because eventually I am going to get Larfleeze and Captain Marvel Jr. What I suggest is you look at a Big Picture whats going to sell More Talia Al Ghul (More Obscure even after being in the Dark Knight Rises) or a Line based off a TV show that was popular and is really more a Collector Line the a toy line. Judging by the comments so far you seem to be the only one not wanting it. Honestly I am going to Pass on batman and if they ever come out with figures you mention in CIE I will trade or sell them.

BTW "REAL" Batman Characters there were only 5 or 6 not comic book villains on the 60's Batman TV Series (Egghead, Ulga Queen of the Cosacks, and King Tut, are the ones I remember off hand) everyone else had time Riddler, Penguin, Joker, Mr. Freeze, and Catwoman. This show was a Classic nearly all of 60's Hollywood wanted to appear be it as the Window Pop (even Music Stars Sammy Davis Jr and Don Ho, TV Stars Werner Klemperer {Colonel Clink of "Hogan's Heroes"} Ted Cassidy {Lurch "The Addams Family" and the Hulk from the Opening of "The Incredible Hulk"}, Van Williams and Bruce Lee {Green Hornet and Kato "The Green Hornet"} and even Santa Clause or Journalist Suzy Knickbocker) all did one (to name a few) out or as a cameo

I'm looking forward to these. I wish people would stop bitching about these and just let those of us who enjoy the campy show have these.

For years, my dad and I have had a running joke where any time we were out doing any shopping and I'd drop through the toys to check for anything cool, he'd pop up and start tearing through the DC stuff looking for 'the real Batman, you know, the campy one with painted-on eyebrows and a gut'. He knew they didn't make one, because I'd told him, but he keeps looking for one as a joke. Well now I'll just have to get him one of these. I'm looking forward to a Catwoman to get for my sister.
