In-Package Pics Marvel Select Venom

Posted on February 4, 2013 at 12:20 pm by Joe Moore under Marvel Toy News

Art Asylum has released some images of the upcoming Marvel Select Venom. the new pics give us a look at the figure in and out of package.

It’s the action figure so deluxe it took the Marvel Select line to contain it! The classic Spider-Man villain Venom is finally coming to Marvel Select, and Diamond select Toys went all-out, opting to replace the standard detailed base with even more detailed Venom parts, to create several of Venom’s signature looks.

Sculptor Jean St. Jean has crafted three heads, four hands and removable ‘Madness’ style back attachment for Eddie Brock that will allow collectors to create whichever version of Venom they like the most! Check out the packaged pics below, and look for him in stores in late February!

You can see photos of Venom by clicking the headlien of the story.

Yeah, this one looks especially good. The back attachment and the head sculpts look really well done.

They knocked this one out of the park. I Especially like the fact that he doesn't look overly monsterous like he appears in some comics and most figures. They nailed the McFarlane and 90's heads. The Madness attachment would go better with a bigger body Venom, but is still an awesome accessory regardless.

This is easily a definitve Venom figure.

Now they just need to make a Carnage to go with him.

Oh definitely. I love Carnage and if they make a MS figure of him that looks this good it would be bought instantly.

This is awesome! Captures them all from the 90s: McFarlane, Larsen, Planet of the Symbiotes versions of Venom. A must have for me also.

I don't see any of the heads looking like Larsen... it's McFarlane and Bagley (Bagley being the chief artist of Venom during the 90's and the leaner/meaner design of Venom). Larsen was one of the first over-exaggerated artists of Venom with crazy jagged eyes and 3ft long jaw.

The split head with the Brock/Venom long tongue is unquestionably Larsen influenced from this cover (below). I don't see Bagley at all in any of these, but more McFarlane in the "smiling" Venom.

Marvel Select got it right this time a good mix of good sculpt and articulation. They still need some help on how to incorporate articulation on the figures where it actually works. I'm looking at you MS Deadpool

That's a "unquestionably" a Bagley cover. ROFLOL I know, I had Mark sign that for me back in the 90's. The issues inside are Larsen drawn, but the cover is classic Bagley. Larsen can't draw worth crap (not just Venom, ANYONE... the man's art is atrocious in my opinion).
    THIS is larsen...

Larsen drew the issues and not that cover...not unheard of, as I know McFarlane got his start as a cover artist also. Just weird they'd have a Graphic Novel with Larsen's name on it yet it's a Bagley cover? I guess that is "funny" My mistake...right cover in my mind, wrong artist.

But you are correct, Larsen's art was a horrible wannabe McFarlane ripoff, as he followed him on Amazing. I even remember the commercial he did in the 90s were he proudly professed he had "no artistic training".
