I actually really liked the Batman Vampire Graphic Novel when it came out in the 90s, so I may get that one. Darkseid (whom I love BTW) not so much.

Does anyone know (and I ask because I do not) are DC Direct Unlimited the same concept as Matty Exclusives, as in these confuse me on availability and if you need to join a club or something?

That Darkseid don't look right... and I' not just talking 'bout the costume.

Why the hell is there a batman in the DC Unlimited wave??????? They have a Batman Unlimited line for just Batman and they put him in the DC wave. I hope this is just a mislabel and Vampire Bats is for the Batman line. That is the same mentality as making a Wolverine line and an X-men line and putting a Wolverine in every wave of both.

I can't believe that Vampire Batman, he looks awesome!
Darkseid really doesn't bug me all that much, as I'm sure the figure will look a lot better in hand....

I might end up snagging that Aquaman to have one of him in a normal costume (I only have that weird blue outfit)

No. Both "Unlimited" lines are mass retails.
They're basically DCUC continued with even softer plastic, no C&C pieces, and dropped down to three figures per wave (in what I believe as an attempted to skirt around the POS problems.)

Though... mass retail is the theory. They're probably going to be so hard to find that matty collector exclusives would be preferable.

Thank you for the clarification! But that blows about them being that hard to find.

Darkseid got a big ol' heed.

I think a better comic idea for Batman would be that he got bitten by a werewolf instead of a vampire because then we could have a whole story arch about how his curse doesn't match his theme. A deeply moving story of the angst-y brooding about buying a new wardrobe and convincing everyone (again) that saying things like Wolfmobile or Wolfarangs is cool.

Red Rain Batman does nothing for me, honestly. Darkseid has been widely panned so I won't pile on. DCUU N52 Aquaman has a cool belt. So there's that.

I like that it's from an Elsewords story rather than a random ass neon Batman with grappling hook or missle launcher. I just don't like the lack of double jointed knees.

    Consistency Mattel, consistency!

One of the Ask Matty's (either here or elsewhere) included some specific discussion of the Signature Series Larfleeze which features the same 2-jointed elbows, but single-jointed knees. The response talked about the additional cost needed to provide two joints in each knee being too great to deliver the figure at current retail prices.

I can only presume this is the same thinking for Red Rain Bats.

I guess I can appreciate the fact that the figure is actually a reference to something...That said, I still don't really see the point. All I see is another Batman figure taking up the spot of what could have been another character entirely. I get it that Batman is popular, but COME ON Mattel...you can't justify this many Batman figures...

As for the articulation, the lack of double jointed knees actually doesn't bother me. Really, with Mattel, anything above their standard five swivel joints is a win in my book.

Except that Saitn Walker has both double jointed elbows AND knees.
So Matty really has no concept of what they're talking about, somewhere along the line.

Ohhhh I do so hope you're right about this, it'll be a lot better for those that can't afford the membership to DC.

I am, because the online stores have had them for a while, and I found the first wave of DC Unlimited (New 52s Superman, Flash, and Hawkman) at TRU.

When I said "That's the theory," I mean that they're probably going to be so poorly carried that sightings will be rare. I never found the Allstar wave at all. Never found the Batman Unlimited wave, either.

I did see 1 New 52 Batman from Batman Unlimited wave 1 at Target last night, picked it up. NEVER saw the All Star wave. Some TRU's here still had that Captain Cold guy from DCUC and several Walmarts had their Super Powers themed wave clogging their shelves.

Thing is, with Mattel we know at this point that there is always going to be a Batman and Superman in any of their DC lines, as they are the heavy hitters and Mattel is hell bent on stating that Batman outsells everyone despite Batman being the only character per specific line usually clogging shelves with no one else to find until they hit TJ Maxx/ROSS or so by which point Mattel blames older fans by not supporting the brand hence why later waves end up at discount stores.

If we are going to get a Batman, which..we will, I would rather see it being a unique version from the comic/cartoon/movie lore as opposed to a random action gimmick one from their evergreen line. With pointless use of plastic like the latter it is no WONDER kids these days would rather get an iPad or game system! Cheap toys are cheap toys.

Weird; I would rather have double jointed knees and single jointed elbows then.

I think they made the right call. He needs both so he can crouch, but I'd prefer him to be able to clutch his lantern posessively to his chest, which the double elbows and wrist design allows.
