New Toy Line – Realm of the Underworld

Posted on November 27, 2012 at 2:14 pm by Joe Moore under General Toy News

Forum member Figure Crazy pointed us to news that Zoloworld has revealed a new 5.75″ action figure line called Realm of the Underworld. This line of figures, looking to be inspired by the original Masters of the Universe toy line, showcases various Greek Mythology and Fantasy characters. Look for the first wave to be released in December. Here are the characters listed currently:

– HERCULES (THE SON OF ZEUS)

– ACROMANCER (UNDERWORLD EDITION)

– ARCHFIEND SKELETON MINIONS

– ARCHFIEND (ULTIMATE EVIL EDITION)

– KRY SIS (UNDERWORLD WARRIOR EDITION)

Read on for images and additional info on each figure. For even more info, check out the official page Here.

HERCULES (THE SON OF ZEUS)

HERCULES was born with remarkable strength. He is able to complete tasks that no mortal is able to accomplish. Being the favorite son of ZEUS, his father knew that this mission will earn HERCULES a great honor once again, but also feared that his son now can be hurt. ZEUS knew if HADES decides to summon great monsters to fight his son, HERCULES would need powerful allies to aid him. The mighty CYCLOPS would be one of those allies! ZEUS hid the SWORD OF HEROES deep into the depths of the world for HERCULES to uncover. This sword has the power to unlock the prison that traps these giant one eyed warriors.

HERCULES Features:

*SWORD OF HEROES
*Cloth Pelt
*Leg dagger and holder

ACROMANCER (UNDERWORLD EDITION)
Starting at: $19.99

The ACROMANCER was once a powerful wizard that was seeking an ancient artifact, which would allow him to enter the underworld’s locked areas and realm of the dead. Knowing of the wizard’s quest, HADES summoned a small ARCHFIEND army to capture the mystic and his artifact before reaching the gates to the underworld. HADES also believed that with the mystic’s knowledge and the artifact’s dark energy, he would force the gates to the underworld open and unleash the dark ruler’s armies into the world of man. HADES knows that he cannot pass through to the overworld until all of the seven gates are opened. This helmet is the only source that could be used for this purpose; however, the dark prince’s plan is not foolish at all. To keep the artifact secure and to turn that plan to his profit, the dark GOD waited until the wizard found the artifact before releasing his ARCHFIEND army. The wizard fought the dark minions ultimately suffering a mortal wound with the artifact clinched in his hands. The, minions brought the artifact to the underworld along with the wizard’s body. Hades claimed his soul and transfixed him into a dark warlock. The dark ruler then examined the artifact closer. This treasure was revealed to be the long lost HELMET OF HADES, a headpiece which gives its wearer some of the dark power of HADES while being able to enhance it’s users mystical ability. This helmet also allows its user to command the armies of ARCHFIEND Skeleton minions. The artifacts most essential ability is its power to open the gates to the underworld.

ACROMANCER Features:
*Fully interchangeable body with snap out limbs
*Long Ax
*Armor
*HELMET OF HADES

These skeletons are surrounded by an aura of dark magic. Without it, they can not exist on the world of man. This aura emanates from the underworld and empowers these dark minions. Once the gates to the underworld has opened, their power increases and they become more difficult to defeat. Build your army of ARCHFIEND SKELETON MINIONS!

I'm only joshin' hahaha, I have no idea what they are.

Its an action figure series based off simple articulated figures. The story is Greek mythology and fantasy. Wave 1 is shown on the site along with a wave 2 character and accessory packs.

  4. Shin Densetsu's Avatar Shin Densetsu says

    11-27-2012, 08:04 AM

These look like Chap Mei figures from Big Lots only larger scale and inspired by MOTU.

  5. Optimus Vader's Avatar Optimus Vader says

I could go for a fully poseable fantasy figure.

Looks kinda cool. Thanks for sharing the link. Frontpaged and credited.

These were discussed/teased at Power-Con last year (the guy at the ZoloWorld booth was talking about them) and were first available for pre-order last month, October 12. Apparently the first 4 figures released are almost sold out. Kry Sis was revealed a week or 2 ago but currently is not available to order yet.

I saw these the other day and really digged them. But for a 20 dollar price tag I'm not so sure

My guess is that Pixel-Dan will do reviews of these when they become available. He's been posting a few updates about the line on his site.

  10. Optimus Vader's Avatar Optimus Vader says

    11-27-2012, 02:37 PM

I kind of don't understand what's going on here. A co is producing what looks to be pieces of shit for $20 a pop. I'm not trying to be a dick to anyone that's into these; I just don't get the appeal. I guess they're going for a retro toy look and people are digging that aspect? The Hercules figure looks like a wrestling figure that would be sold on a small spinning rack by the door at my local 7-11.

They could definitely make great custom fodder for those looking for new parts and styles for MOTU sized figures without having to cast parts. And prices look to be swappable, so creating variations should be easy enough.

19.99 a piece? I hope they include a HJ with that prices. But seriously those are the coolest looking non-brand related toys in a long time.

"Recommended for Ages Adult and Older"

    ...that's... that's hilarious. I love it.
Whether it's engrish, or intentedly worded that way, I love it.

That aside, the skeletons look pretty cool. The rest looks as dopey as the MOTU they're ripping off, but the skeletons look pretty cool.
But not $20 cool. Like someone said, these look like they belong on the $5 spinning rack at the in & out gas station mart.

$5 at biglots is the MOST I'd pay for these. Look like CRAP, but again, would be fun for fodder.

  15. cobracobra's Avatar cobracobra says

    11-27-2012, 05:39 PM

I would pay $20 a piece for these to be honest, the packaging and toy is dead on straight from Remco, Olmec, Tomland Toys, any of those. I wouldn't have gone with the greek myth back ground my self. I am not trying to learn I am trying to play with toys.
But its really cool what they are producing and What ever the 7" inch conversion pack is sounds like they will be compatible with MOTUC which then I put this in my
STONE COLD LOCK DOWN OF THE WEEK OF THE CENTURY!!!
Independent knock offs!!! Let me get in line with all that money I am not spending on Hasbro!!

These are the molds from the old AWA Wrestling figures from Remco circa early 80's!!! (Had to go to my old school wrestling stuff for the Nature Boy and Animal)

I am all about these...but not for $20 per fig. Reminds me of the old days when I would buy stuff like this at Woolworth or McCrory's!!! The good old days!!! Fugetaboutit!!!

$20 is probably fair, considering this looks and feels like this is made in small numbers and from like 3 guys in a basement in china somewhere lol.

The figures look to be able to pull apart. there is talk of battle packs for them. I dont think these figures look cheap at all. look at the crap on todays shelf and this blows it away hands down IMO, but to each their own.

If that figure is $20. Yeah, that's really, really bad. They have similar enough stuff at the dollar store.

Just wanted to make sure but 20 is pretty correct. Looks like BBTS has them for a little more even.

I saw them first hand last week at Super Megafest. They look cheap but are sturdy. I didn't even want to talk to the guy long enough to figure out what they cost. I would have laughed at him if I found out then.

The Hercules does resemble a Remco Nord The Barbarian. Which if they still existed I would smell law suit. It already looks like they are using classic MOTU arms. I had to look at these up close but they are a huge pass for me at any price.

There is possibly going to be a playset sometime next year. It may involve slime somehow.

are they meant to be interchangeable? there's another MOTU looking line sold online that has magnetic joints that ARE meant to be interchangeable.
