Masters of the Universe Classics Castle Grayskull Is On

Posted on November 14, 2012 at 11:16 am by Joe Moore under Masters Of The Universe Toy News

Mattel is sending out word that they have received more than enough pre-orders to continue with their plans to make a Masters of the Universe Classics Castle Grayskull.

MOTUC Fans,

You did it! In a last minute rush, you fans rallied the troops and saved Castle Grayskull®. Not only were enough pre-orders placed to hit the minimum production goal needed to go into production, you went all He-Man® vs. Skeletor® on it and CRUSHED it!

At the end of next year, you’ll be the proud owner of the biggest, most iconic, most detailed, most accessorized piece of Masters of the Universe® real estate ever built! Pre-orders are now open again* and all pre-orders placed between the original start date of October 16th through January 4th at 9am PT will include a first-ever exclusive Masters of the Universe® Classics cross-sell poster. Not only that, but everyone who pre-orders will have the chance to vote on which MOTUC heroes and villains appear on new Rudy Obrero-designed packaging art (around spring 2013).

If you’ve already placed a pre-order, you’ll receive an email confirming your order is going through. This is only an order confirmation — you will NOT be charged until your Castle Grayskull® ships next year. And if you haven’t placed an order yet, click here now to stake your claim!

We realize you took a leap of faith by pre-ordering based only on a few drawings and a foam mockup. We’re honored and grateful, and know we have the best fans anywhere. The design team is hot to get started on a sculpt that will rock your MOTUC world. We’re hoping to reveal it around New York Toy Fair in February and will keep you updated every step of the way.

On behalf of Mattel and the MattyCollector.com team, a heartfelt “thank you” for making this happen!

-Matty

Actually, I think places, other than Mattel, that were taking pre-orders (like BBTS) submitted their orders on Monday. So they had to account for them as well.

I wish Hasbro would do this for certain Star Wars items fans want or even maybe a X-Men Danger Room.

Rather just be able to buy this at my local toystore and not have to pay a dumb amount of money on shipping and duties...

So still doesn't mean that a lot of people want this thing... just that a couple of guys ordered a big amount of them.
I still wonder if there is a real market interest on this guy.
I think I could like it, but definitely not for this price, goes too way out of my budget (be aware just in case of future discussions, I am not saying it is expensive or not, just that I cannot afford it)

I got a whole year to save up for this, cause if they do a Snake Mountain, I will need that too.

Are you serious? It's a Classics Castle Grayskull.

I doubt this was just a couple of guys pre-ordering these. The meter was already at 75% or so on the Friday before hand. And I can't imagine BBTS, and the few other retailers who put up their own pre-order pages, simply over ordering on a product as expensive as this. Could there be a few guys who ordered more than 1? Sure. But I can't believe people were mass ordering just to get this made. There's too big a risk to be stuck with oversized and expensive product for an extended amount of time.
