Young Justice 2-Pack Pre-Order Canceled

Posted on September 5, 2012 at 7:35 am by Joe Moore under DC Toy News

The Young Justice Superboy and Miss Martian 2-Pack has officially been canceled. Mattel announced the news, you can check it out below:

Toy Fans,

Like you, we’re huge Young Justice fans. We watched the thermometer on the Miss Martian/Superboy 2-pack in the hopes we’d reach our production goal. The pre-order period was extended to 8/31 but even with the extension we didn’t hit the target so we won’t be going forward with producing the 2-pack. If you pre-ordered, look for your credit card refund in the next 7 business days.

This doesn’t mean the end of our beloved Young Justice characters! We did hear from many fans that they’d love to see these characters in other lines (like DCU 6″ in comic-book style). We don’t have anything to announce right now, but we’re always looking to make the best product possible and deliver what fans want!

Young Justice Fans, even with the extension we didn’t hit the target for the 2-pack and won’t be going forward with production. If you pre-ordered, look for your CC refund in the next 7 business days. This doesn’t mean the end of our beloved YJ characters. Nothing to announce now, but we’re always looking for ways to deliver what fans want.

Fold them into the subscription, make Miss Martian's costume white, and give Superboy a second comic head!
    Solution found for everyone.
    Do it! So says Jetty!

    but seriously... i waaaaaaant.

I wanted them, but only signed up to finish the team (of sorts), I would like Miss Martian in white to go with season 1, but would have taken season 2 black. I think I would be ok if they found a way to just put them into Club Infinite Earths for next year, I mean I love CIE, but most are new heads and a few parts on existing bodies anyway and I totally understand that is how most toys are made, and I am good with that, so long as I get characters. I am just happy to finish the Metal Men and Doom Patrol. I don't see why they cant finish YJ this way too.

This isn't surprising given the (useless) thermometer was only at the 25% mark on Friday morning. Plus, you had to pay for the figures in advance, which I hardly call a preorder. Preorder means you don't pay for it yet, but then again, this is Mattel logic, which belongs in Bizarro World.

I think the price really put people off of it. $50 just seemed too much to be asking for what you were getting.

not surprising. I couldn't find any of the 6" figs in the UK. All I saw was the odd 4" Black Canary and endless Vandal Savages. It's a shame because the 6" figs come with cool accessories and YJ is a good show

I would've liked that Superboy, but no way at that price and dealing with a Matty "Pre-order" system when they can't even run a regular "Bill and ship" system correctly.

Well that is just it. I really only wanted Miss Martian, so $50 for Miss Martian was way too much. Add on top that you had to pay for the duo in advanced, without a solid release date (and if it really takes them 8 months to produce something, then it would be closer to next summer when we would even get our orders), and the fact that I am moving at the end of the year, which is already going to be a nightmare to get them to ship my last month's subs to, I was not enthused by it.

i really think mattel needs to clean a bit of house in regards to how they are handling the dc licences and most of their male oriented lines. also cut back on the packaging.

If they wanted $50 out of this pack they should have had their shit together in July and released it as a con exclusive. Then opened opportunity for a limited time for people to buy off their site.. That sounds familiar... oh wait. that's because Hasbro successfully pulls it off every fucking year. DC fanboys would have went nuts at the con just cuz it's con exclusive. Then the internet would have gone nuts wanting to buy it off the website in fear of it being the only chance for purchase. So moral of the story.. $50 for 2 figures better have a SDCC logo on the side of it or people won't buy it.

Word. I was thinking about DC Con exclusives a couple days ago. How dope would it had been if they had shown the Young Justice preview and sold a 3 pack with those 2 figure and a Black Manta with Aqualad's head under the mask? Or even a YJ Nightwing?

I don't know. I just hate that (even though I know it's Mattel technicaly) DC properties are always treated like boo boo. The only thing I respect is the animation. It's on it's own level in my opinion. Marvel aint even close (and EMH is one of my favorite shows ever). I know that when it comes to Movies and toys and any other merchandise there is a trickle effect of who is actually in charge but it's their stuff! Say something!

Marvel stepped in and is taking control of their stuff. The movies were getting to be a little on the silly side and they saw that. DC needs to do the same. It's just a shame because they have done some animation that can be released in theaters. Make Superman/Batman Public Enemies a movie (frame for frame) and that's the greatest superhero/ comic book movie ever. Lol I know this is about toys but it just sucks knowing how good something can be.

For instance. I wasn't collecting when Smallvile was out but I loved the show. Watched it through all the (few) ups and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the downs. Was there any figures released based on that show? If not that's crazy. They should've done like 2 series every season. A comic and a Movie Masters type. Would've been dope to get their MM style Doomsday, Cyborg, KARA, Oliver, Hawkman and Deadshot.

But what do I know? Im just a fool who buys the junk.
