Gears Of War Erector Sets

Posted on September 2, 2012 at 12:30 am by Shin Densetsu under Video Game Toy News

While at Toys R Us I came across new Gears Of War Erector sets. For Erector, this is unique as it may be the 1st time they have obtained a license to make toys from video games. In addition, Erector isn’t known for figures, but these sets come with articulated mini-figures. This may be another 1st for the company. Each set comes with metal parts to construct specific vehicles, as well as Delta Squad and Locust mini-figures. The following sets are shown:

  • Erector Gears Of War Locusts VS Delta Squad
  • Erector Gears Of War Armadillo
  • Erector Gears Of War Centaur
Check these new Gears Of War construction sets out after the jump!

I'd seriously rather mega blocks. The halo stuff is so cool. I can't believe GoW didn't get a mega blocks license

The 1st thing I thought of once I saw the mini-figures WAS Mega Bloks! The figures look similar to me in build.

Think about it. A halo empire plus WoW sets. No reason they can't do it unless NECA has a problem or exclusivity on the license

It's not only Gears of War either, they have Sonic the Hedgehog and Rabbids lines coming out.
Sonic The Hedgehog: Meccano: Sonic & Speedstar @ Forbidden Planet

Meccano: Rabbids: Crazy Washing Machine @ Forbidden Planet

They also have the GOW sets if any Britons like me want the sets.

Bloody hell, meccano is still going? Which -for the sake of anyone not English- pre-dates Lego and was a all metal construction set. It was like the lego technic of a bygone age

Thanks for posting this! I immediately went to my local Toys R Us and bought the big Battle set.

I don't think it was worth sixty bucks, but I am glad I own it. It's just too strange of a franchise combination to pass up, plus I had to have that mini Baird. He just looks so tiny and disgruntled, it's awesome!

Don't know if I'll buy any of the other sets, though the King Raven looks pretty nifty and includes Clayton Carmine.

Do the Locusts have bicep swivels? On the package it looks like their elbows are facing inwards.

Also how is the vehicle quality, is it all metal or does it use plastic parts too?

Vehicle is all plastic besides the nuts and bolts. Also, the Locusts do not have bicep swivel, they're just sculpted inwards like that. It helps them come close to being able to hold their guns properly unlike the CoG.

Still, I like the set well enough. The vehicle looks pretty slick once assembled, and the mini figures are nicely sculpted. They just don't have very many paint apps, which is kind of understandable given their size. It's just that the Battle set is over-priced for what it is, forty bucks would be more like it.

    Hope that helps!
