Former Marvel Universe Guru Heads To Jazwares

Posted on August 10, 2012 at 6:22 am by Joe Moore under General Toy News

David Vonner, former head of Marvel Universe for Hasbro, is heading to Jazwares! David was one of the founding members of Kasual Friday, a group of former Hasbro employees looking to create a new upstart toy company. But word is coming in that Vonner is making his way to the company responsible for Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and Adventure time toys!

Toyark wants to wish David the best of luck in his new venture!

It means Jazzware is gonna be making better figures than Hasbro in a few years.

I wish he was around when they did the Assassin's Creed figures. I wanted a DaVinci figure.

so does this mean that jazwares will have figures whose legs pop off their ball joint almost all the time too?

wonder if they'll bump up the QC on the plastic they use now. generally liked their previous efforts but the addition of Vonner might just polish em up.

That won't be any better than the crappy 4" street fighter figures. Those joints pop off worse than mu, even at the abdomen. I don't know whats worse, marvel showdown or the street fighter figs.

MK wasn't too bad. The horrendous figures were raiden and baraka though. The ninjas were fine.

I hope david can bring out better street fighter figures. I need chun li, akuma, and bison.

I'm guessing nothing is going to change. Vonner will probably have great ideas and Jazwares will say "That's awesome! Now let's do it the cheapest way possible."

it's cool he's got a job (that was never going to be a problem though) but Jazwares? we'll see what comes out of this.

While I'm glad he was able to get a new job, I doubt much will change at Jazwares for a while. But I'll certainly keep an eye on the situation as it unfolds.

Dude, SO right- I was looking at the SF two packs the other day at TRU (they'll never sell or go down in price) and the quality and proportions are SO BAD. The MK line id worse IMO- paint so sloppy that it looks like a no-name dollar store toy.

Theres a Baraka at my local TRU for $3 or $4. I gave serious thought to picking him up but what would I do with him? Not even for custom parts.
