D Arts Street Fighter?

Posted on July 10, 2012 at 2:16 pm by Shin Densetsu under Video Game Toy News

Tamashii Nations has posted a special article which showcases a new resin prototype figure(new basic buck?), the culmination of their efforts into making fully articulated figures. For the past few years Tamashii Nations has been studying ways to replicate dynamic movement within their lines such as:

  • Saint Saiya Myth Cloth series
  • D Arts
  • SH Figuarts
  • Super Robot Chogokin
  • Robot Damashii
Now the focus of their article is on human movement, especially with regards to fighting…

…interestingly enough, the poses shown replicate attacks shown in Street Fighter, such as the hadouken and shoryuken(dragon punch). Months back we brought you news of D Arts King Of Fighters, so at some point, Tamashii Nations plans on bringing characters from fighting games to their D Arts series. Aside from KOF, Samurai Showdown was mentioned as another possible series to pull characters from. However, is Tamashii Nations planning to make D Arts Street Fighter figures too? The article hints at something to be shown come August. Stay tuned as more develops!

That could also be the base for a normal Goku right?

They already made Goku though, all they would need for normal is a new head and the Super Saiyan body.

Yeah that's a good point. I didn't see the other pictures when i first posted but it does look like it could be Ryu in a few pictures.

Something of note too, the body used is different from what was shown for the Terry Bogard proto for a while back, for example the shoulders/arms. I think it's for Ryu/any Shoto character. The figure shown blocking looks similar to Balgrog when blocking iirc.

Man there hasn't been a consistent SF line SINCE SOTA Toys stopped making them! Sure we got Play Arts Kai SF IV and NECA but both stopped at just a few releases. If we get D Arts Street Fighter there is potential to have a large roster of characters/figures.

Hell we already know Tamashii Nations has the license from SNK for for KOF/Fatal Fury/Samurai Showdown figures. Having a Street Fighter license from Capcom means.....EASY CAPCOM VS SNK FIGURE CROSSOVER!

I'd love to see them get a capcom license. Having Ryu, Zero, and Wesker on a shelf together is all I'm asking for. I don't even need the Marvel side of the game.

Probably less of a buck and more of a basic articulation/engineering model. teh "Arts" line is usually pretty good about unique sculpting, right? I'm not too sure as I don't collect a lot of it.

I almost wish they'd release the resin prototype itself, it seems like it would be great for customizers...regardless of how pricey it would be.

I would friggin love to get just the unpainted buck from those pictures. It would be awesome to draw from or create customs with, they'd CLEAN UP in sales.

If they're focusing on fighting games I'd like to see them tackle a Ryu Hayabusa from DOA/Ninja Gaiden.

Then somehow I'd like to see Figma do an Ayane.

That blank body looks pretty good. In addition to fighting game properties, some comics properties would be nice to use that muscular body for. Like some X-men or Avengers.

I would buy that figure. Just a blank male figure. That would be great for doing art sketches and stuff.

    This.

Also, I hope this means we'll be seeing more capcom charaters in the d-arts line, hopefully DANTE.
Also hope to see the SSBB d-arts springing up soon.

Any clue on the scale of this guy? I'm guessing 7" or so, but it's a total guess. BBTS has a blank in the 3.75" range (alpha buck) that isn't quite as poseable, but is close.

tall, pose-able, just what i need for showing action figures. which the ones i have now lack.

i like the figure being blank and its cool, but it would be useless for me. i cant sketch i cant paint cant design. if they did release this blank, i can see all customs being made and thats cool, but that would take away from the company revenue.

I think if they do release this buck, it will be a special edition. They are mainly using this as a basis for future D Arts figures based on fighting game properties.
