Inside Pulse | Young Justice Action Figure Line Cancelled
Mattel canceled its 3.75" DCIH line just a few years ago.
Green Lantern's basic 3.75" line is clearancing at 99 Cent Only stores.
Now this past weekend, Mattel again cancels, its Young Justice 4" line.

I wonder if there's anyone out there, Mattel can hire,
to stop this MASSIVE HEMORRHAGING of its many 3.75" lines?

Sheesh, it doesn't take a genius. Improve articulation. Just make a smaller version of the DCUC and everyone will be happy. Make it to scale with MU and you'll have MU fans crossing over and buying into the DC line just to have Superman vs. Thor, Batman vs. Wolverine and Hulk vs. Kilowog. Problem is I think Mattel looks at 3.75" as Children's Toy scale and 6" as Adult Collector.

Cancelled you say? If thats true, I'm not surprised. Anyway, a good move for Mattel would be to either stop charging $8 for Happy Meal quality toys, or simply improve the quality.

    Problem solved :P.

ooohhhhh...i guess that explains the price jump in the Young Justice toys on eBay... im sure the price hike has only just begun...snipers will be brutal...Red Arrow is already up int he hundreds...

    I'm devastated though...i really liked this line...lol

$22 for a single 6" fig was never going to cut it...

Probably never going to see a 6" black tee Superboy.

Good Reddens. I never liked the faces on the figures. They were too animated looking so my Aqualad and Artimus had new faces made for them to better fit in with my DCUC Figures.

Agreed. I mean they proved w/ the Avatar line that they CAN do good articulation in this scale, and then MAJORLY dropped the ball on the GL line.

C'mon Mattel which do you really think kids want the Kilowog on the right or one like my custom one on the left? It's a no brainer.

Don't get me wrong the sculpts on most of the GL line were great, but when you have 20 year old articulation on an action figure competing against MU it ain't gonna sell worth crap. No matter how good the sculpt is.

As to the Happy meal toy comment you're totally right. I was just saying that to my 14 yr old son the other day when we came across the HM YJ KF my 3 yr old has. I mean the HM ones had neck, shoulder, and waist artic. If the hips were articulated it'd of been better than the Mattel one by 1 poa.

Seems like they're really in a tailspin. CIE figures have been delayed. DC All-Stars delayed, waves reorganized and canceled. Prices on mattycollector raised. I guess they're gambling on the "Dark Knight Rises" toys doing well. It wouldn't totally surprise me if they decide to cancel DC All-Stars or make it an exclusive somewhere.

If the DKR are like the YJ, JLU, GL, or any of Mattel's other cheaply made DC lines then they can forget about it doing decent let alone well. If I was DC I'd of pulled the license years ago.

    yup heres the quote
"Unfortunately, as you’ve probably noticed at Target, Young Justice didn’t work out well at retail and will be going away. We’re disappointed, but that’s how it can turn out. That doesn’t mean you might not see more one day on Matty"

No big surprise here,Mattel have just become too easy a target for our vitriol, they constantly drop the ball,as someone pointed out earlier its a change in attitude thats needed NOT a change of staff,it doesnt matter who they recruit as long as the pisspoor attitude to 3.75 continues,i have debated SENDING an MU figure to Mattel headquarters with a letter saying PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE study this figure and learn from it!!! I just dont understand how they seem to want to make figures, but never do it properly....

This does suck. How do they expect to sell toys if they don't put them in retail stores? Are they content in bleeding adult collectors dry with their subscription services? Blaming Target for poor sales is crazy. They wanted too much $ for poorly articulated and sculpted figures. The more these toys get delayed from retail the more money Mattel is loosing.

I was excited to hear that they were rereleasing 6 inch Superman figs. But where are they now? How are they staying in business with no product on retail shelves. They are quickly becoming an online only retailer with horrible customer service.

dear mattel, here's how you make toys that will sell:
1.do not charge $18 for a single carded figure that has minimal articulation and has 99% of the same pieces/molded parts as the rest of the figures in the line.
    2. do not charge $12-14 for a glorified happy meal toy with ridiculous and excessive packaging.
    3. do not release waves of shelf warmers.

    just saying.

I was actually looking forward to a couple of the upcomings. superman and manta.
You realize the last time there was a 4 inch superman that was the equal of its Marvel rival was 1975.
I really dont get it. If you go Target You see three pegs of DC 6", two pegs of mavrvel legends, 12 pegs of star wars, 6 pegs of marvel universe, 3 pegs of avengers 3 pegs of gi joe and 1 peg of young justice captain atoms. Yet Mattel insists the 4" line isnt profitable.
